I wouldn't quite count Best-Lock as 100% compatible. The only sets I've
seen were in the military series but it appeared the bricks and plates are
both a different height than LEGO bricks and plates. The BL brick is a
little shorter than the LEGO brick, and the BL plate is half the BL brick
height leaving the BL plate a little taller than the LEGO plate. I didn't
get to test minifig compatibility.

| There has been at least one occasion in the past where no new castle sets were issued in a year. I know for a fact that it happened in 1991-- exactly 10 years ago. (btw, 1476 does not count as a castle set). And while I too am disappointed and can't (...) (24 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.castle)
