Re: Is this a Lego part or not?

(...) It appears to be shredded pieces from several MB palm branches to me. Though some of them could be the ferns as well... Interesting use of the the "Semi-Lego" Galidor leg pieces as well. C-Ya, Rich (20 years ago, 15-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.general, FTX)

Is this a Lego part or not?

Hey everybody - Need some help. I am trying to figure out if the ferns seen in (URL) this picture> are a Lego part or not. I have never seen anything like it so my guess would be no. But since I am not 100% positive I ask for your help. Thanks Mark (...) (20 years ago, 15-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.general, FTX)

PCS Edventures partners with Mega Bloks

PCS Edventures has partnered with Mega Bloks to be their partner in the education market. Presumably this means their BrickLab kit will feature MegaBloks instead of Lego. Longtime Lugnetters may remember Richard Wright (aka Weird Richard). (URL) (20 years ago, 10-Dec-04, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: Brick Century Military

(...) This gets more and more interesting. The only Oxford tank wheels that I have came from that 15000 set, and they're about as big as a LEGO 2x2 round brick. The MegaBloks tank wheels are somewhat larger, as shown in the third model from the (...) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Re: Brick Century Military

(...) Nope, 'Shifty Bricks' becomes 'Brick Century' (or at least is affiliated with it somehow); whereas Oxford is an entirely different and independent company from Korea, think of it as the Korean equivalent of Megabloks if you like. As for (...) (20 years ago, 9-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Re: Brick Century Military

(...) I wasn't sure if Shifty / Brick / .. became Oxford. I think I have an old post that listed a source for buying new Oxford sets, but they work out the same or higher priced than real Lego. Nice info on Korean Lego schools. The eBay contact I (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Re: Brick Century Military

(...) Nope. Oxford is in Korea, and neither China nor Hong Kong's courts have any bearing. Also, aside from web sources who buy Oxford sets and then sell them second hand at higher rates, Oxford is not sold outside of Korea, period. I am not sure, (...)   Re: Brick Century Military

(...) From what Ben's Bricks wrote about the cost of custom molds, a Chinese contact seems to be the easier and cheaper route. Isn't Oxford the new Shifty? I don't think the bricks aren't protected by copyright. Didn't the Hong Kong court rule that? (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Re: Brick Century Military

(...) Good eyes, Dave!! I don't own any of the 9707 Megabloks Tanks either but after reading your post, I sort of went to look at what I have and want to hear something interesting? Those wheels from Ed's picture (URL) here> look a lot like the ones (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Re: Brick Century Military

(...) I don't have any Megblocks and only one of the John Deere Ertle/ Best Block sets. No comparison to Shifty. Shifty is Lego as far as the bricks are concerned. The axles and wheels are the weak link, not Lego at all. Look up the 1999 / 2000 Hong (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  New Nano sets

My local KMart features four new Nano sets, numbering from 5907 through 5910 and each representing a roadster and including a small figurine and aroudn 100 pieces. These are about one inch tall and do not appear to be articulated, but they include a (...) (20 years ago, 7-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: Brick Century Military

(...) Without seeing them in person I can’t do more than speculate, but it looks to me as if the wheels on the tank are remarkably similar to those used by MegaBloks for years in a number of sets, beginning with the 9707 Combat Tank in 1999. The (...) (20 years ago, 7-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Re: Brick Century Military

Brickcentury is the same as Shifty Bricks (actually, you can tell this from the pictures). I believe they have either renamed their military line to this, or they are planning to rename the company itself. Some of the newer military sets that are (...)   New MegaBloks buckets

On Friday I spotted three new MegaBloks bulk buckets on the shelves of a local TRU. I’m not 100% sure of the set numbers, but here are the details as well as I recall them: Set #876 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Promo Bucket 300 pieces, with two (...)   Re: BTR sets at a dollar store

(...) My local "Dollar General" didn't have any on the shelves, but it did have close to four dozen copies of LEGO's NBA minifig packs and one copy of the MegaBloks "Cyclone" Gyro-Fighter. However, "Family Dollar" featured five copies of each of two (...) (20 years ago, 3-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: BTR sets at a dollar store

(...) Thanks for the news, Ray. In my town, Dollar General stores are a dollar-a-dozen, so I'll check around and see what I can find. I've seldom had much luck with discount store LEGO or clone finds, but every so often a set or two pop up. If I can (...) (20 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MOC: Apocryphal Blacktron Freudenshadow Racer

(...) Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad to see that you took it in the proper spirit: as a sort of homage rather than a gesture of nose-thumbing. Keep the inspiration coming, and maybe I'll keep up the eye-burning re-interpretations! Dave! (20 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

BTR sets at a dollar store

BTW, in case anyone cares... a few of the smaller Built To Rule sets (Hasbro ?) were spotted at a Dollar General the other day. These may be new stock or old stock. That particular store is not one that get to frequently, so I'm not sure. There was (...) (20 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MOC: Apocryphal Blacktron Freudenshadow Racer

(...) Thanks! (...) Heh, that's cute. My initial reaction was laughing and groaning at the same time. I suspect that may have been your purpose. Anyway, I'm flattered. And you did a good job of covering your stated goal (similar to the Outcast, but (...) (20 years ago, 29-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)
