Re: Over 70 LEGO products copied

(...) <snip> Hey, I'll bet we know what colors the clone brands want to make next! -Scott (21 years ago, 21-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Over 70 LEGO products copied

(...) James has already touched on this issue, but I thought I’d add my $.02. The main problem with “The Brick” is that the company produces and sells inferior quality bricks in sets that very closely mirror the copyrighted designs of true LEGO (...)   Re: Adding part updates (and clone parts)

(...) I wouldn't bother too much about that issue. With a fair computer (P120 and above) and not any extremely huge models, the difference in rendering time is hardly noticable. Just add <zero>* BFC NOCERTIFY and you have a really quick and easy fix (...) (21 years ago, 21-Jan-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Shamefully vague product sightings

Really poor detail follows, but on the assumption that any bit of info is helpful, here goes: I've spotted a new Power Rangers figure at my local Target. It's about 9 inches tall and uses ball-and-socket joints like Gyrofighters and the Rangers' (...) (21 years ago, 20-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: Adding part updates (and clone parts)

(...) Glad you asked, because it gives me another good excuse to get off my duff and finish what I started. My collaborator in setting up a clone.dat website has been very patient with my procrastination, and he's put together an attractive site (...)   Re: Adding part updates (and clone parts)

(...) I believe one of you Mac guys may have actually inquired about the clone part files at one point. So clone part makers, what's the current status? I have a copy of clone001.zip. Should I make that available from the Mac ldglite startup page, (...) (21 years ago, 20-Jan-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Here is what Megabloks sold in 1988

(...) Ooohh I remember that store. In my neck of the woods (western Canada) they were called "Consumers Distributing" (which is essentially what you've written in French, I guess). Their style of selling was to have no showroom whatsoever - and (...) (21 years ago, 14-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

(...) space figs (the figs were disassemble-able & interchangeable with the other pieces). I think they faded out & then came back out a few years ago & are now gone again. Jeff (21 years ago, 10-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: My first sighting of a 2004 set

(...) Hi Paul: Thanks for the info, even if it's a trifle disappointing. I was hoping to expand my army into the realms of the dead, but not if the can't hold their arms up. Double bummer about the non-clear weapons--that would have been especially (...) (21 years ago, 9-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: My first sighting of a 2004 set

(...) Dave, I got this set a couple of weeks ago at TRU in New York and just haven't had time for a post. Yes, the magnets work, and the dragon is kind of see thru. 5 of the knights are totaly clear, while 5 are silvery clear like the dragon. The (...)   My first sighting of a 2004 set

Maybe not news to some people, but I spotted (URL) new Dragons set at my local TRU. It's a bit pricey at $19.99, but it includes a "Krystal," a two-headed Dragon, and 10 "Ghost Warriors." The Dragon is dull silver, but the warriors (in standard (...) (21 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  "Alien" weapons for Lego-conversion!!!

To anyone interested in an Alien/Aliens theme Lego conversion, please note that the wepons of the Kubrick Alien figures are perfetly scaled with Lego-like minifigs. A little loose in the MF hands, but nothing that cannot be easily corrected. Now, (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Here is what Megabloks sold in 1988

(...) I remember that brand, but I've never seen it in real life. I suppose it couldn't have done too well, judging by its disappearance! (...) My first exposure to any compatible clone brand (i.e., not Tente) was the MEGABLOKS Brontosaurus set from (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Here is what Megabloks sold in 1988

Taken from an old 1988 christmas catalog I dug from my parents' basement. The catalog is from a defunct canadian company (Distribution aux Consommateurs). Big, basic baby blocks. Interesting to note that Fisher Price had its own "Construx" line back (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Play Along Toys is affiliated (in what fashion, I don't know) with Art Asylum, which is the principal manfacturer of the figures (and presumably the (...)   Re: DC licenses Art Asylum to make Batman/JLA construction sets

(...) I'd say the pictures of just figs are real, but the other two are rendered. It looks like the figs are full-size human figures in the same scale as the dwarven Lego minifigs. Or perhaps a bit bigger? The Batman city image (lower left) looks (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

DC licenses Art Asylum to make Batman/JLA construction sets

(URL) came out yesterday. From the pictures they look like a cross between Kubrick and Belville styled figs, at least joint wise. Looking at some of the (1) images with bricks and pieces, it would appear they're making them at least somewhat (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jan-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)
