I have noticed that Wal-Mart has been carring fewer of the $60 and up sets
than they used to in the past, but that Super Wal-Marts (the big 'uns) tend
to still stock heavy on LEGO. In my area (So Cal) there are only 3 out of 7
that have decent selection day to day. As of now, few LEGO Harry Potter
sets can be found on the Wal-Mart shelves, seems that what did not sell
between the release of the movie and X-mas has hit clearance in most stores
at 25% to 75% in my travels. There were a lot of these Harry Potter sets
(no Hogwarts or Express) at two particular Wal-Marts in my area, one group
at 50% (made my selection and left half the shelf behind) and the other at
75% (moved shopping cart to shelf, reached arm behind all sets and scooped
all into my cart :). All in all I made out like a bandit on this my second
best deal on LEGO ever at clearance time. It is out there, but you have to
be quick and lucky to run into it as I did. I'm afraid the next clearance
at these stores will be mostly Jack (yuck) Stone, cause they have a lot. I
have no idea why they are so anxious to be rid of Mr. Potter sets which are
still new.
Play well,
-Aaron-
