Guess it depends on what kind of Lego sets you buy.  If you're silly
enough to pay full retail for things, maybe a 5 or 10% discount would
seem like a good deal.

Me, I couldn't imagine paying for the privelege of spending 40% more
for something than I would normally pay. *

* I don't pay more than 50% off, remember?

Of course some of us don't live in an area where we see much clearanced Lego
(and precious little of that is at 50% off). I haven't found much used Lego
either (I've spent a couple days yardsaleing without finding a single Lego
set).

Since the weekend is coming up you might want to consider giving yard sales
another chance, especially if you've only spent a couple of days looking.
Presumably you have one of the main attributes needed to make great buys at
garage sales-- that is, your familiarity with Legos-- you can probably spot the
side of a Lego box from a block away.  The other main attribute is patience
though, because you can often go for a few weekends without making a good find.
Needless to say, it helps to like yardsaleing.  Last weekend I didn't find a
single Lego, but the weekend before that I made one of my best finds of the
summer at one of the first sales I hit--three boxes in pristine condition--
Launch and Load Seaport, Dark Dragon's Den and Wolfpack Tower, all for $15.00.
It turned out that all had instructions, but #6542 was missing the forklift and
truck and #6076 was missing all the animals and figures.  #6075 was mostly
there.  I'm sure there are similar finds out there no matter where you live--
you just have to keep at it.

Now if anyone has the tractor trailer and forklift from Launch and Load Seaport
that they are willing to part with for cheap....
