    WalMart, Clearance, Privacy —Jeff Johnston
The WM near me has the Super LEGO value sets on clearance for $14 - this is the set with the Rock Raiders crew, ResQ Speedboat, Ninja Blaster, Frontier Patrol, and a LEGO Classic set. Oh, and a blue Technic case. I snagged one because I was thinking (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: WalMart, Clearance, Privacy —Bruce Schlickbernd
(...) Lot's of Mummy Tombs are left out where I am, just about everything else is gone. I'll probably wait for another round of reductions on it before I'll bite. Annoyingly, the Stone Tower Bridge is still $39, but the Wal-Mart person there thought (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: WalMart, Clearance, Privacy —Jim Stroot
(...) The WM here had a couple of these for $15, but I passed and haven't seen them since. (...) I haven't seen the Sphinx set at the local WM for a long time. I did pick up another Mummy's Tomb for $14 though, as well as an Oasis Ambush for $3. I (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: WalMart, Clearance, Privacy —Adam Hoekwater
(...) There are a few of those left at my local WM, i'm still waiting to see what happens there, though. (...) I don't see what harm can come from WM knowing what area of town you live in. They aren't going to canvas the entire zip code with (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: WalMart, Clearance, Privacy —David C. Pyatt
I believe the reason for the zip code inquiry is to target areas for direct mail flyers and newspaper advertisement... if you only have 5% of your customers coming from a large remote area do you want to spend as much putting a suppliment in their (...)       David C. Pyatt wrote in message ... (...) You could always just give them some random zip, such as one from across the country (then you just need to figure out how to get a significant number of people to all give the same zip, making sure it (...)        (...) No. Please use "08904," so that Wal-Mart by my house will stock an absolute TON of Lego and be forced to clearance it after Christmas^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hso that I can valiantly take the brunt of the Wal-Mart marketing behemoth for my fellow (...)          Re: WalMart, Clearance, Privacy —Ray Sanders
(...) For fun, see if you can locate the FPO zip code for one of the fleets. That would definitely mess up the results. If you want a middle-of-nowhere zip, let me know. There are small towns all around me. Some of them probably service less than (...) (25 years ago, 26-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: WalMart, Clearance, Privacy —Dave Schuler
(...) TRU does that around here, and Radio Shack has long had a similar phone number policy. One of the ZIP codes for Juneau, Alaska, is 99801. Just use that! 8^) Dave! (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: WalMart, Clearance, Privacy —James Powell
(...) TRU in Victoria did that, I just gave them my work postal code (which covers a post office...and about 6000 of us :) V9A-7N2 (it used to be, Vodka Or Scotch, One Bottle Only (V0S 0B0...quite aplicable to us navy types...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

They asked address information, and in fact if your percentage was below 90% of customers giving information, they were liable to discipline or terminate you.         Re: WalMart, Clearance, Privacy —Toki Barron
(...) When asked for a zip code, I usually give them a zip code that is obviously a lie - such as 90210 (as in Beverly Hills 90210). That generally pisses off the cashier, but I have never been accused of lying when I've used it (in Iowa and (...) (25 years ago, 25-Jan-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: WalMart, Clearance, Privacy —Ben Roller
(...) I give my Kentucky ZIP at my local Toys R US (in SC) when they ask.
