I do know what a Dutch auction is, Dan. Have experimented with them on
eBay and don't like them - if I have 8 of something to sell I prefer to
do them in series. By "all at once" I meant "all at the same time" not
"all in one batch": having 8 up at the same time does drive the price
for each one down.

Exactly. It's supply and demand:

If you have 10 bidders and one Vader fig - the price will go up because they
all want that fig and it's the only one.

If there's 10 bidders and 10 Vader figs, there is no reason for them to bid
higher when they can get it for cheaper, and the price lowers per auction
(or Dutch Auction).

Another reason why I wanted to sell them separately is because Darth Vader is
a main character.  So is Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett and others.  Battle droids,
scout troopers, rebel pilots, gungan warriors and others are just common
minifigs.  I like to have common minifigs in large quantities, but only 1 or 2
commanders or main characters.  So while it's OK to sell 20 battle droids, 40
pilots or 60 rebel technicians in the same lot since they're just a common
minifig, I don't see why anyone would want to have more than 1 or 2 Darth
Vaders in their collection.  That's the reason I'm keeping 2 and letting the
other 8 go (in case something happens to one of them, I have a
replacement).  :-)
