You WILL get a lower price Dutch than selling them in individual lots, virtually
guaranteed.
What you seem to forget is that if you set 8 Dutch at $7.50 beginning price, that
means 8 people can bid $7.50 each before any prices change. If you auction them
one at a time (say in 3Day auctions over 3.5 weeks), the second person to bid
already pushes the bid up. Over the lifetime of the 8 individual auctions, you are
virtually guaranteed to get much more out of the individual over 1 Dutch. It's
all a matter of Supply and Demand - PERCEIVED Supply, that is. With a Dutch
auction for 8, people aren't going to worry as much about whether they will get
one, and won't bid as high (I don't on Dutch auctions, that's for sure). If you
do 8 single auctions, and don't tell the world that you still have X to sell over
the next Y days, the Perceived Supply is lower, so the prices tend to be higher.
Case in point - I auctioned 2 4555s off a few months back Dutch. JUST TWO. They
sold for $101 each, barely over the opening bid. 4555s sold within a week before
and after went on average for $150 each.
It's all a matter of balancing time to payment and total of payment. I have done
some Dutch auctions, and will do them again, when the overriding concern is making
room in my apt.

| You're right, but in this case I'm not trying to suck as much money out of people as possible. :-) $7.50 seems about the right price. Even better way to sell these for as much as possible would be to auction off 1 Darth Vader and then e-mail all the (...) (25 years ago, 22-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.auction)
