The only Darth Vader I sold went for about $15 last year. But selling 8
at once will push the price down, of course...

They're not being sold all at once.  This is a "Dutch auction" which means
that the quantity of the item is more than 1.

What he means is that by having 8 up for auction at the same time the prices
will be lower than if you sold 1 per week or something.

That is not necessarily true.  The price will go above $7.50 only if there are
more than 8 bidders.  If that is the case, the person who bid the lowest will
be knocked off by the 9th bidder and so for.  At any given time there are up
to 8 high bidders.

So they're being "sold all at once", just not necessarily all to the same
bidder.

That is also not true.  The number of Darth Vaders sold will be as many as the
number of bids made if it doesn't exceed the quantity available.  If there are
5 bidders at the end of the auction, 5 figures will be sold.
This Dutch auction style is basically offering x items for a set price, but in
case there are more people interested in buying than the available quantity,
it gives a chance to the x highest bidders to win the item.
It would have been easier to just sell them at $7.50 a piece but that could go
on for weeks and I need to raise funds now to buy more sets.  Before I can
start on my next creation, I will have to break up at least 10 A-Wings and 10
Sith infiltrators to get lots of the grey "wing plates" that come in these
sets.

You WILL get a lower price Dutch than selling them in individual lots, virtually guaranteed. What you seem to forget is that if you set 8 Dutch at $7.50 beginning price, that means 8 people can bid $7.50 each before any prices change. If you auction (...)
