I am basically a town person myself also coming out of my dark ages.  I got
interested again when my parents gave my son a Freestyle bucket for
Christmas.  I had saved all my LEGO from when I was a kid and had it stashed
in my attic.  My interest really kicked into high gear when I found RTL and
particularly LUGNET back in November.

Right now much of my building is with my son (who is four) and in particular
we build race cars and trucks associated with race cars (tow trucks,
haulers, etc.).  Right now we have a small oval race track (6 road plates)
set up in his room with a infield that is a pit stop and the perimeter being
small buildings and seating.

For myself, I like Model Team, Pirate Ships and the town sets up until about
1997 (or when ever it was that Jr. became dominant).  I wish I was paying
attention when the Pirate ships were out.  Right now I only have three:
RBR, CBC, and Imperial Flagship.  I have them in my home office sitting on
top of the work area where I have my workstation.  I also have a couple of
Star Wars sets that I picked up at the LIC in Orlando although I am far from
a Star Wars fanatic.  I like the movie and I will see the new one(s)
whenever the initial wave of interest slows down.  I will definitely see it
in a big theater (anyone know which theater in Raleigh will be the best to
see it in?)

I would also like to get a train and I suspect I will probably pick up
either a 4565 or 4559 sometime in the near future.  I might even get both.
Last year we borrowed a train from Grandpa (a very nice LGB) to run around
the Christmas tree.  Seems like a perfect excuse to buy a train!

One of the things that I enjoy the most about getting back into LEGO is
something that really isn't possible for a child.  It's the thrill of the
hunt - finding old sets or good deals, clearance items, flea market
treasures, etc.  I really get a kick out of finding something odd,
particularly if it is something that I have been looking for.  I recently
obtained a Launch-n-Load Sea Port which I had admired from afar when I first
saw it in the Pause database.

I just wanted to know who in this area are Lego fans.

Also, what are your specific interests about legos.

I like the town and train themes myself.
I just start collecting again around July of last year and found I missed
some good sets over the years.  There are no current town sets I would want
to own.

(...) If I was to buy just a single train, I'd think about the the S@H 3225 (using their "train set" deal). The 4565 is also a good choice, but you have to add a power pack which adds about another $45. If you think you want to dive into trains in a (...)
