First up, the discount voucher here is a nice move - makes up for how club
members can only book discounts on child tickets - but let's face it, as
soon as LLW get hold of your address you get one or two £5 off vouchers
every year anyway.

Suggestions / comments on how I've put the link up welcome.

The Red Letter Day trip might have been tailored in discussion with AFOLs,
but it's still going to cost us as much as the last one.  Some of the items
may be better organised this time around too, but the description doesn't
convince me that it's going to be necessarily a 'better' experience than the
last one.  Having said that, I didn't know what to expect back then either
so I could quite easily be proved wrong.  It's certainly more popular this
time and I'm still looking forward to it.

It has to be noted that perhaps we got much more than LLW planned to give us
last time, this time it sounds like we will be getting more than the letter
of the original RLD offer but perhaps not as much as we actually got last time.

But, I do think anyone reading this board has to appreciate that it's a
sounding board for everyone, and different opinions will arise.  I'm not
going to adjust what I talk about just because I now know that staff from
LLW read the board.  If it comes to that then I think it's missing the whole
point.

I for one would love to put on an AFOL fest and display at LLW.  I've always
thought they're missing a sales boost by not having minifig town and trains
in the park.  If we could do it and boost their sales, it'd also be nice to
blag something for the effort; but I'd also do it for nowt just to see if it
works.  That's my opinion, and most people here have seen it before.  If
expressing it on this board is going to compromise discussions with the
people who could make it happen then I'm sorry, but that has to be allowed for.

What could Lego do to support an AFOL event organised by someone here
anyway?  Someone could come along, and maybe cover it in the club mag, but
what else?  Maybe open the discussions that have taken place so far to
everyone present?
Let's have some ideas.

Exactly Jason, here and in another place we have discussed ideas for how we
might work with LLW and now we have posts from three AFOLs who have met LLW
(those of us not there/invited don't know exactly who was involved).  I have
no problem if Jon, who asked and was not gainsaid when he suggested he
should be the conduit for discussions with LLW (note that this suggests he
was talking on behalf of at least those who attended the first RLD when he
did so), has decided that it would be far too difficult to involve us all
but he, Tony and Huw should realise that if they don't give us full feedback
we will wonder what went on.  I would like to know what the discussions
covered, perhaps one of 'our' attendees (sorry Jason, what should the word
be, delegates?) could post here, there or email us with a little more
information.

My opinion of what I think our objectives for working together with LLW,
which I have posted before are:

For us personally: - cheap elements and sets, rare elements (reason obvious)
For LLW / TLC: - higher sales at the park / generally (reason: to ensure TLC
succeeds as a company and produces more great stuff)
For both of us: - higher sales of themes we are most interested in (reason:
to ensure TLC focuses on the stuff we like)

A number of us have suggested that a Fest/display at LLW could do this.  Was
this put to LLW and what was their response?

I've read this a number of times and I'm pretty sure it oughtn't to give
offence to anyone!
