Hi there!

The subject line pretty much says it all: we, the portuguese luggies, will
have our first gathering in mid-March; there will be some castles and
"castle-heads" among us, so we thought it might be interesting to set up a
small "war".
The tough part is, despite having seen some pictures of similar events, none
of us really knows the rules for this sort of game.
Here is where you come in: can you provide us the instructions for the game?
Or a "tutorial", if there is one?
There isn't a real need to be very accurate or extensive, like I said this
is intended as a test to see if we can sustain a game with our few castles.
FTR, there are a couple of GIs, one 6073, one 6081 and one modified 6081 only...

Thanks in advance,

Pedro

There are a couple of different ways you can go.  There is a link to Mike
Rayhawk's Brikwars on the web interface at Lugnet.fun.gaming.  James Brown
has also written some cool rules for castle wars.  You can make them simpler
or more complicated depending on how you want to do it.  I think Brikwars is
better for small groups of men and vehicles, and James rules would probably
work better for larger scale battles.  Or you could just buy some 20-sided
dice and make up your own rules.  That is what my friends and I all did as
kids.  11 or higher to hit, plus one for every additional piece of armor you
are wearing or if you have "cover."

Good luck, and be sure to take some pictures of your war, along with a
thumbnail description, with any especially hilarious highlights, for us all
to enjoy.

I've tried Brickwars once, and it was very fun, but in case you haven't figured out yet, it is also a very goofy, silly kind of game. If you are going for a more serious medieval strategy game, Brickwars may not be the way to go. Making your own (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.loc.pt)
