For good or for bad, Lego shop at home is now in Canadian dollars.
The web-site seems to be back up now.

Great... But not so Great

10151 is priced at 39.99 US and 59.99 CAD

That's a 1.5x conversion....

4752 USD 19.99 CAD 29.99....

StarDestroyer 10030 USD 299.99 CAD 399.99
Ok well this one is 1.33x....

When I did a quick test at www.xe.com/ucc, the conversion of $39.99 USD comes
out to be (today, at this moment) $54.99 CAD.

As you can imagine, it would be nearly impossible for us to update the price of
sets every day to match the current exchange rate. And what currency would we
convert from USD? Danish Kroner? British Pounds?

Since that's a bit out of the question, we tend to stick to basic pricing
blocks, and not just for Canada. Most companies do this if you start looking at
prices of things, right? Rarely do you see $13.74 or $26.52, but instead $14.99
and $29.99. It's easier for most people to wrap their mind around that way.

In the case of the 4752, you may have to pay an extra $5 CAD, but on the 10030,
you save $14 CAD.

Plus, that doesn't even factor in any customs costs that might be included.

Anyway, hope this makes you Canadians happy! :)

Snippage (...) Thanks Jake. It will sure make ordering easier and less of a shock when the Visa bill arrives! It will be nice to not have to guesstimate the currency conversion for cost and shipping. Mike (20 years ago, 17-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

(...) Well, having the prices in US currency was great when the Canadian dollar was strong. :) I think it's levelled off a bit now. Another bonus from shopping at S@H is that we don't hafta pay a provincial sales tax (7.5% here in BC). But thanks (...) (20 years ago, 17-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

(...) This is a step in the right direction. Thank you Jake. It's good to know you're listening. You did hear that request for Pick-A-Brick in Canada right? ;-) Play well. Tim Strutt (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)
Re: Canada shop.lego.com now in Canuck-bucks

(...) Not to nitpick, but that's a red herring. S@H already charges Canadian customers for all applicable Canadian taxes, which are the only fees that would be assessed at the border by Canada Customs. This was already in place before the change to (...) (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)
