(...) Yes, the vast majority of the engine is non-LEGO. The LEGO body is actually like a shell which simply lifts off, leaving the non LEGO parts (frame, wheels, battery, etc). Todd, during my first trip to LEGOLAND CA, I got a 3-hour tour of the backroom, model shop, and animatronics control room. I picked up several models either displayed throughout the park or featured in the DK book. This was over a year ago so my (...) Hi All- As a follow up to my trip report, here's a few pictures to go along with it... The Safari Trek ride is a bunch of Zebra painted Jeeps with false steering wheels. Since LEGOLAND employs Model Citizens, akin to Wal-Mart Associates, I referred to the good natured woman at the entrance gate to the parking lot as an MC. However, the quality is not as good, since they are mixing around in the big bin as well as on the scale before they scrape them into the bag. /Eric (...)
