I've been wondering about this for a month now. LD's idea was such a kind
gesture, it's really not my place to push it.
I can say, I am personally saddened to see LD drop interest in their idea. They
had sounded so excited about it when we met in NYC.
It seems there are a great many unanswered questions. If you need to, I'd
suggest putting a few rough sketches on a web page to point to from a post. For
instance, ask, "would something like this [link] be what you're talking about?
what about the legality of this [link]?" "who would render the art?" etc.
I would seriously like to see the whole community come together on this. Read
through all the posts in this thread, take notes of the different ideas
(discussing them in another area. maybe, publish?), put them into a list,
consider any additions, and only then: return to lugnet.lego.direct with an
inquiry and a direct proposal to Brad.
As Todd said, this isn't his and my project, it's LD's and yours. And I'm not
really up to rallying folks -- I have too many projects already. :-)
But I do look forward to seeing the clever, community-designed products that
will surely result! It's really a great opportunity.
