it's also available in the UK shop, price 80GBP.

We've now seen three of these large scale dealiethings.

I wonder how well they are doing? That is, what are the goals of these, is
it opportunistic sales (do it because they're relatively easy to develop and
since they use mostly basic bricks, relatively low cost production),
something to build brand awareness (these would tend to get displayed, I
would think) or something else entirely?

Myself, they kind of leave me cold. But I don't have space to display
everything I would want to display even from my own designs, much less my
current collection, and I don't see them as an economical source of bulk.

Here's my take on it:  the LEGO Sculpture sets are items targetted
primarily at the serious LEGO-holic market.  They are too expensive, and
too specialized, to attract a lot of interest in the retail sector.  Their
primary appeal will be to people who are willing (and able) to indulge in
large-scale lego-mania.  My assumption is that a relatively large
percentage of S@H customers are "serious lego buyers", as compared to the
profile of the typical TRU shopper.  So these sets are perfect to offer up
through the B2C channel.  They won't compete with the normal retail sets,
found in a TRU near you.

Sorry if the above paragraph is long-winded and/or repetitious and/or
non-sensical.

Steve
