Those two statements don't contradict one another, from what I see...
It's like "We'll accept applications from all over the world!"
If only Canadians send in applicaitons, then only Canadians will get the job.
I'm not going to speak for Jake, but what I've read is that "Hey, here's 1000's
of applications. Here's the 20 best as set by the criteris we want, but these
20 are so good that we can't base the 'narrow it down to 10' based *soley* on
the application--let's see where they're from."
Now if the 20 best applications are all from the states, or 'America/Europe',
well, that's the way the cookie crumbles--it doesn't matter if the 21st is from
Bangladesh--the cut-off was 20. 'Cause if you start playing that game, well,
the 22nd spot is just one away from 21, and the 23rd spot is one away fromj
22--next thing you know you're choosing Biff from Egypt who happened to stumble
across the applicaiton form in a drunken stupor and filled it in on a lark.
See, this is how 'Political Correct' messes start--5 open positions and choose
the most qualified--if the 15th person in the list is from Madagascar, why
shoudd that be the defining 'win' for that person? Take the 5 best and go with
it.
That's how I see it anyway.
