  Re: Saw the movie today!

Just seen a headline at 'The Onion': "New Harry Potter Film Turns Children On To Magic Of Not Reading". Vicious, but funny.   Re: Harry Potter sold out in Australia

(...) That's the same story in the US, at least to some extent. I ordered the full set through LSAH fairly soon after they came out, and the castle, griffendor common room, diagon alley and the other small set are all backordered, with delivery (...)   Source of Train Car Bases in Harry Potter set 4705

For anyone else who might be planning to build a train car using dark grey in the color scheme (as am I), you might be interested in knowing that the HP Set 4705 (Snape's Class) includes two great bricks that can be used as bases. The dark grey (...) (23 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.harrypotter)

Harry Potter sold out in Australia

In today's (Thurs 28 Nov) Brisbane Courier-Mail, it says: Potter Collectors Storm The Castle Lego Australia has sold out of its most popular Harry Potter line a month before Christmas with stocks unlikely to be replenished before March. It is (...) (23 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.harrypotter)

  Re: Saw the movie today!

(...) Well, I haven't read the books, and I'm glad to say that this didn't matter much in following the film. But, I can still see some apparent abbreviations. First, I agree with Maggie about the location of the hut. I was quite surprised to see (...) (23 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.harrypotter)

Re: Star Wars v. Harry Potter

(...) Just checking. ;) (...) Too bad you didn't stay. From what I've seen of Episode II, the Harry Potter movie will be more worth the time and money. :) (...) Egad! Herein lies the problem.   Re: Saw the movie today!

(...) Remember the movie "Total Recall", in which it turns out that the rebel mastermind is some sort of mutant fetus attached to someone's torso (sorry, I can't recall his name)? I always pictured Voldemort in HP:TSS to be somewhat similar - an (...) (23 years ago, 25-Nov-01, to lugnet.harrypotter)

  Re: Saw the movie today!

(...) I saw it yesterday and was surprised that it was pretty close to how I imagined it also, except for Hagrid's Hut-- I had wondered why in the world LEGO would make his hut even look like THAT, never mind the controversy over the cheapo roof-- (...)   Re: Harry Potter chess knights

  Harry Potter chess knights

So I saw the movie, and noticed that the only scene that has knights in it, is the one with the life-size chessboard at towards the end. I'm bringing it up because I find it intolerably lame of TLC to only include a knight with the big Howarts set, (...) (23 years ago, 20-Nov-01, to lugnet.harrypotter)

  Re: harry potter vanishes

HP castle is GBP£80 in UK, making the Irish one at IRL£80 a real bargain for us (I know, I bought one at Smyths in October). Just for info, if anyone is going to Calais before Christmas the Carrefour supermarket has the castle in stock for approx (...)   Re: Whats the deal with the Harry Potter sets?

(...) Personally, I'm not so much put out by the color as the design. As a MOC builder, sure, I'd like to see the "regular" colors, but I recognize the value in some irregular colors. But the real problem is design. I always build rather rushedly. (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.harrypotter)

Re: Whats the deal with the Harry Potter sets?

(...) I agree, only I would go even further and suggest one try to imagine what it would look like through the eyes of a ten year old girl. Girls are as big Harry Potter fans as boys are, and LEGO traditionally has had more of a following among boys (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.harrypotter)

Parts are great, set design is, well, not-so-great

The HP sets are GREAT for parts, even though they're a tad expensive. I'm really only peeved by the cardboard diorama pieces in the smaller sets that I know I'm going to be throwing away. I borrowed the books and read them and they were enjoyable, (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.harrypotter)

Re: Whats the deal with the Harry Potter sets?

I agree, Allan. It is kind of interesting to ponder, especially if you compare these sets to the the ones, say, twenty years ago. The "bar" for kids was higher then. There wasn't as much cheap entertainment (ie video games). The sets were more (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.harrypotter)

Re: Whats the deal with the Harry Potter sets?

(...) I am 33 years old. But my little kid brain is only about 9 or 10. I see things like movies and books and toys through the eyes attached to this brain. I've read the Harry Potter books and loved them. I will likely read them again sometime. (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.harrypotter)
