A friend of mine was shopping at a second-hand store, and told me there were
some LEGO items there, including a Space Shuttle... (A Space Shutttle...hm, I
don't have any of the older City-themed Shuttle sets, I thought...) I decided
to check it out.
Much to my suprise, when I got there, I found a rather rare set for 20 bucks. I
opened the box, and the parts were just thrown in the box, but they key critical
items were there, and the bottom of the box appeared to be a little mildewed,
but the parts looked to be in good condition. I found a few other bags of used
parts, they looked in decent condition, so I got them too.
The set that I found for 20 bucks? 8480 - Technic Space Shuttle. (those
critical items were the hard-to-find pole reverser switches). It was missing
about 10 easy to replace pieces that I already had.
So, there was a space shuttle set there...and I got what I consider to be my
best LEGO deal thus far. The parts didn't really need any cleaning. So, I do
tend to examine the parts a little before purchasing. If there's going to be a
lot of work in cleaning, then the price better be dirt cheap (pardon the pun).
