Cafe' Corner (10182)--is anyone building this? —Matthew Crandall
Hi, all-- My wife, mom-in-law and I are in the middle of our Memorial Day Weekend building project. Most folks put up a shed, or a swingset or something--we're building the Cafe' Corner. It's a fun family project, let me tell you. (It hasn't, by the (...) (17 years ago, 28-May-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Cafe' Corner (10182)--is anyone building this? —Joel Hoornbeek
(...) My wife and I bought (and built!) this a couple of months ago while we were away celebrating our anniversary. The two-instruction-book format really worked well for us, since it allowed each of us to build a different section at the same time. (...) (17 years ago, 28-May-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Cafe' Corner (10182)--is anyone building this? —Clifton D. Chambers
(...) As a collector set, the Café Corner is great. The set has so many pars that are unique and only add to the building. Building the Café Corner can be accomplished without building the interior walls or substituting other colors and using the (...) (17 years ago, 28-May-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) I (or rather my wife and I) built mine over the space of a week. Its the first set that she has been remotely interested in. It still sitting there waiting for me to build an interior. I sometimes feel unusual in the AFOL world because theres (...) (17 years ago, 28-May-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) Hmmm. I see your point, but I also think that when you finish your sentence, "You can buy that one directly from LEGO for $140", it might make the public blanch. Sure, piece for piece, it is a great value, but that type of analysis is a bit (...) (17 years ago, 1-Jun-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) I think you underestimate the emotional extortion buying power of the average upper-middle class suburbanite child. ;-) (...) Inspiration really is one of the best functions of displays.       (...) You may be right, but it is my experience displaying at model railroad shows here in the Midwest that the crowds tend to be predominantly middle class. (...)       (...) Now that I think of it, You're right, I was thinking of the mall crowd, but my train show experience (albeit non-LEGO) lines up pretty well with your observations. What AFOL's need is a subtle way to get the point across that one Cafe Corner (...) (17 years ago, 1-Jun-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) Shame on you, John! Haven't you read all of the Bionicle fan-posts here over the years? Bionicle's tightly limited range of single-purpose elements actually improve creativity, rather than restricting it. Why, with your collection of Bionicle (...)          Re: Cafe' Corner (10182)--is anyone building this? —John Neal
(...) But that's okay, I suppose, because it ends up that millions of American boys are buying millions of $$$ worth of Bionicle to build those 3 things. So what ends up good for TLG is good for me (taking the cynical, pragmatic road here:-) Plus, (...) (17 years ago, 1-Jun-07, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, FTX)

(...) I bought one to build and display. I'd like another for parts, and one to stash away MISB. But it's going to be an expensive year for Legos, I don't know if I will manage, since I have the same plan for the Eiffel Tower, and the IR Technic (...)    (...) Bought it, built it. Right now it's in my "work room" but my son loves playing with it. He's actually getting pretty good at rebuilding it after ripping it apart. I'm considering buying another for parts, but I'll have to wait and see what (...) (17 years ago, 30-May-07, to lugnet.general)
