Lego and other brand trademarks —David Shifflett
Is there any sets where Lego has included references to other trademarked names. One example I can think is Jeep, for the 711 Jeep CJ-5 set. Are the ferries (Stena, Silja), and Maersk, names copyright/trademarks? Any others? Keep on bricking, dave (19 years ago, 12-Jul-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego and other brand trademarks —Jonathan Wilson
Even if you exclude the movie and TV licenses (Star Wars, Bob The Builder etc), there are still many: Shell (there are many shell sets) Mcdonalds (the Mcdonalds Drive Thru set) Exxon (more gas station sets) Many licenced/labeled promotional sets (...)      (...) Hey Dave.... I'm surprised you didn't think of them..... Esso, Shell, Exxon, VW (named beams), and then there are all the 1:87 cars/trucks. Is Octan a real service station? I have never seen one here or in Europe (Germany, Austria, Britain, (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jul-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego and other brand trademarks —Arne Lykke Nielsen
(...) LEGO has made a lot of promotional stuff for other companies, like the Falck and BRF minifigs, but these are single items. If you are talking sets, there's indeed the Scandinavian companies you mentioned (Maersk, Silja, Stena), and more like (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jul-05, to lugnet.general)

(...) I seem to remember the 1998 World Cup football/soccer sets had a sticker sheet with a number of real-world brand logos.         Re: Lego and other brand trademarks —Gerhard R. Istok
(...) Ironically the very first trademarked items came out 50 years ago this year. That would be the Esso Service Station accessories. In 1955, with the advent of the Town Plan TLG produced 3 Esso trucks (#1250/#250 Esso Barrel Tanker, #1251/#251 (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jul-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego and other brand trademarks —David Shifflett
(...) Jim, you answered the question I didn't ask, but meant to. Which trademarks are actually acknowledged on the Lego packaging, instructions, catalogs, etc?         Re: Lego and other brand trademarks —Gerhard R. Istok
(...) Good point Dave, I have never seen any acknowledgement of trademarks on any of the old 50's-70's Esso or Shell items. Ditto for the 1:87 cars/trucks. No box or brochures (that came with these items) had acknowledgements either. On the 1:87 (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jul-05, to lugnet.general)
