Re: Why are slope bricks textured?

(...) What about the 3x6 slopes? Okay, I know they are a little different but they don't have that "texture" you are speaking of. (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts)

Re: Why are slope bricks textured?

(...) OK, I would love to give some special reason, but I know of none. Ever since the sloped bricks first came out in red (1958) and blue (1960), they have had the textured finish. The simplest explanation I can think of is because most roofs are (...) (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts)

  Why are slope bricks textured?

Its one of the most trivial things, but its always bothered me. Why have that texture on the slope end? What purpose does it serve? From the small selection of un-textured slopes we have, one can only infer that these would be less trouble to (...) (20 years ago, 14-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts)

Re: AoJT3: Johnny Thunder and the King of the Gypsies (Update March 13)

Sorry for the long delay with the next installment, but I've hit a patch of real busy-ness with school and a bit of writer's block too. So the story has really stalled. I've been holding these 4 in reserve because I figured this would happen. Anyhow (...) (20 years ago, 13-Mar-05, to lugnet.adventurers, lugnet.general)

  Octagonal building technique: help!

I am in the process of creating a building that has eight sides. Four of them were easy to create as they are either perpendicular or parallel to each other. The problem is with the other four sides. I tried using a "Brick 3x3 Facet" to go across (...) (20 years ago, 12-Mar-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Re: Help! How do you put an image inside of a post?!?

(...) Good advice. Alsco consider reviewing the FTX quick ref (URL) card> or the FTX (URL) guide> and the FTX (URL) faq> FTX is pretty slick and pretty easy once you get the hang of it. If you get stuck, ask for help! .general may not be the best (...) (20 years ago, 12-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish, FTX)

Re: Help! How do you put an image inside of a post?!?

(...) Hi Bill, One way to learn about it is to look at a post that does the kind of thing you want to do. In the upper right corner there is a thing that says "view raw message", which if you click it, will show you the inner workings of the post, (...) (20 years ago, 12-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: LEGO-related blogs?

(...) I see a bit of LEGO-related stuff here, but also have to give it extra points just for the Kids In The Hall reference. :) (...) I like the look/layout of this one.   Re: "Ads by Goooooogle" at Brickshelf?

(...) Mine aren't in Swedish, unless I'm greatly mistaken about what Swedish looks like... :-) Not that I see any conspiracy necessarily, just good use of public info. (20 years ago, 10-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: "Ads by Goooooogle" at Brickshelf?

(...) Hmmmm. Their AdSense pages only seem to mention page content in regards to ad targetting, but it's not very detailed. It's possible it may also have access to HTTP request information, which it may be able to use to target ads too. ROSCO (20 years ago, 10-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: "Ads by Goooooogle" at Brickshelf?

(...) At a guess, your browser submits some limited information about you that google's using. What OS you're running, what language you prefer, your IP address, what browser you're using.   "Ads by Goooooogle" at Brickshelf?

I'm a little concerned about the boxes with "Ads by Goooooogle" that shows in my browser at Brickshelf and other sites. As they make ads with Swedish topics, there seems to be some kind of intelligence behind them(?), targeting the ads in a creepy (...) (20 years ago, 10-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Cool new Lego sculptures at ToysRUs.... Wait a minute, is that?!?!?

But I CAN tell you that Lego doesn't use non standard parts (well, not anymore). The last year I was at the park, the (...)   Re: Cool new Lego sculptures at ToysRUs.... Wait a minute, is that?!?!?

(...) Was it this one by any chance? (URL) can't tell from the picture what the non-released parts might be, but I'll take your word for it. I was in NYC in February 2002 but I can't remember the displays all that well. A big dragon is the only (...) (20 years ago, 10-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)
