Since everyone is bashing John, I thought I'd offer a diferent point of view.
At first read, I kinda like the idea. It MIGHT get the retailers to put
pressure on LEGO. But then I think about the fact that it seems a little
unethical to knowingly buy sets that you intend to open and then return.
So that said, I won't be doing this myself and would encourage others to not as
well. But I think it is uncalled for to tell John to "grow up". He threw an
idea out there. We are all brainstorming ideas on how to convice LEGO to go
back to the old colors. When brainstorming it is always prefered to offer up
ideas, even if they turn out to be bad ones. So we read his idea, thought it
over and rejected it.
I think John even kinda knew it was a bad idea, as he said "wishing for a way to
post this anonymously... ;-)" (Of course I could be wrong about that,
presuming to know what another is thinking, especially when you don't know them
can be foolish.)
Reject the idea, not the person and move on.
