Re: 1x5, why not? —Erik Olson
(...) Because you can add shorter ones together in most cases? It took them long enough to make a 1x3, even longer to the 2x2 L shape. But there used to be a 5x6 plate with a hole off-center, because it was the ideal truck cab size when doors were 3 (...) (22 years ago, 22-Apr-02, to lugnet.general)

Re: 1x5, why not? —James Powell
(...) It would be a useful brick in many cases, but I think you have hit it on the head when you say that because you can make it from a 1x2 and a 1x3. The case which is different is Technic, where it would be useful to have had a 1x5 with the holes (...) (22 years ago, 22-Apr-02, to lugnet.general)

Re: 1x5, why not? —Cary Clark
(...) ... (...) ... That was my thought, too. I got some LEGO sets in the 80's and early 90's as an adult, and then lost interest until a couple of years ago. Once I started up again, I was surprised to see 1x6 tiles -- they were introduced in '95. (...) (22 years ago, 22-Apr-02, to lugnet.general)

(...) Don't forget that a 6x5 plate already does exist (albeit with a hole in it). It hasn't been used for some time, if my memory serves me correctly. (I have two of these things in blue.) best LFB (22 years ago, 22-Apr-02, to lugnet.general)

Re: 1x5, why not? —Geoffrey Hyde
I'm not sure how long they've been using it's mold but bricklink lists 'plate 8x8' in at least nine different colors: Dark Purple Light Green Light Violet Purple Sand Green Swamp Green Violet White Trans-Light Blue It'd be interesting to see how far (...)       (...) Looks like a lot are in the HP sets (URL) the Rebel Blockade Runner has some too - I think they're white from memory. ROSCO (22 years ago, 22-Apr-02, to lugnet.general)

Re: 1x5, why not? —Thomas Garrison
(...) It's worth noting that (according to Peeron[1]) this was only used to fill horses' backs until 1994, and only became a regular architectural element with the introduction of Wild West in 1995. Its use in Castle sets 1987--1994 was in a more (...) (22 years ago, 22-Apr-02, to lugnet.general)

Re: 1x5, why not? —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) The 5L technic axle was introduced in 1998, I believe. There also exist 1x5 technic plates (two varieties), as well as 1x5 technic beams. Fredrik -- (URL) (22 years ago, 22-Apr-02, to lugnet.general)

Re: 1x5, why not? —Ross Crawford
(...) Are you talking about studless beams? I don't recall seeing any 1x5 plates with studs - are these from newer sets? ROSCO (22 years ago, 22-Apr-02, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

Re: 1x5, why not? —Thomas Avery
