Funny thing happened this past weekend when someone called me an AFOL. It
took me back for a second and I actually felt a bit offended. I wasnt sure
why till I though about it some. I dont consider myself a Fan of LEGO,
but more a Fan of Building; it just happens that I have found LEGO bricks
to be the best product to build with. I dont collect LEGO sets; I buy LEGO
parts for my projects.
I didnt start buying LEGO products just because I wanted the sets or the
parts, but I wanted them so that I could build things and make my ideas come
to life. I will admit that I have fond memories from my childhood of
building with my LEGO sets, but there again I dont think its the sets I
enjoyed so much as building and playing.
Maybe we need another acronym, Fan of Building (FOB), or just Building
Enthusiast (BE)
I dont know, but I dont consider myself an AFOL, just a
fan of building and being creative.
