Is that mean, in a near future, Lego would be an imported (over the
pond) good for the USians,  too? Hmm... This is not good, huh? Low US
prices are a good thing for us, since even including shipping overseas,
they still be lower than prices here for many of the sets.

It will not make much of a difference.  I don't know how many machines Enfield
has, but I would suspect less than 25 injection molding machines (if they are
laying off 100 people...)

The cost of shipping Lego would not be very high, at least, not if it is done
in bulk amounts.  (the info presented here is inconclusive as to that bit of
the story...are they just shutting down the molding machines in Enfield?  Or
are they moving all production (including boxing, which I doubt) from Enfield.

(...) Really! I would think that 100 people (per shift) could support 3-400 molding machines. The machines don't need full time attendants. Do we have an industrial engineer from the plastics industry in the house? I'm guessing. ++Lar (24 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

(...) The last time I was in the factory, there was probably 75 - 80 moulding machines. There was also the decorating and assembling lines, along with the various packing lines.
