See also Lego's new? press release ("Page updated November 28th, 2000"):

Doesn't seem to mention the specifics of the restructuring though, since it
doesn't even mention Enfield's plant... any further news now that it's
Tuesday? (And probably late afternoon in Denmark already)

I think this is good news overall.  Especially this part:

What did we learn?

First of all, we have learned that we must run a healthy
business with focus
on healthy growth. This means that our important business
area, Play
Materials, must also be in healthy progress, before we
start new initiatives.
Further, we have realized that we have to find a model,
which turns new
ideas into good business, before we invest too heavily in
them. Accordingly,
the number of new initiatives must be limited.

If TLC brought its focus back to what it is best at doing before
venturing out into new markets, I think we would all benefit.  I also
noticed that the press release talked at length about relating to the
consumer more directly.  I think this will mean an expansion of Lego
Direct.  I am disappointed that the molding plant is closing.  I have
never understood how it could be cheaper to make parts in Europe and
ship them worldwide.  I wonder if TLC would consider licensing the
molding facilities to a subsidiary that would make parts for fans...
(just dreaming).

I also noticed that section, but here are some blurbs which caught my eye: What did we learn? <snip> We need to focus on strengthening our direct consumer access and on building stronger consumer relations. <snip> What have we (...)
