Kim, yes I was thinking the same thing as you were about needing only one of the
gable connector pieces. But instead of talking about it I went off on a tangent
about the Santa polybags. Yes 10 sounds right for the number of the black gable
connector pieces. But I wasn't sure if the set had 10 of them or 10 of the black
low sloped 4x2 peaks.
Another interesting item about these "gable connector" pieces is that in the early
1960's when these were only available in red or blue (the only roof brick colors
at that time - mostly available in the parts packs 280, 281, 282, 283) the
connector pieces looked a little different. The pointed end was not manually
"ground down" like they are today. They were very sharp. And on the underside,
instead of a "wall" separating the underside connector part with the rest of the
slope, they had one binding brick "tube" (like on the bottom of all regular
bricks) that was cut away at an angle (to match the angle of the receding
connector).

| (...) If I'm understanding the piece you're refering to here ((URL) (I believe Gary Istok calls them "Gable Connectors"), you should only need one of these pieces at the top of the 'T' in the roof, not three. You can use the regualr double slope (...) (24 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.general)
