...and to think I have to lock my office door and wedge a chair under the
handle before I can get my Lego out at work.

It is a hard life.

At the cafeteria of our company, there is a bowl of Lego bricks on top of
each tables. Nothing fancy, just bricks. (Looks like they just bought a
couple of the brick tubs.) At the beginning it was quite frustrating for me
sometimes. I almost wanted to smuggle in some plates and slopes
from home. But gradually I got the hang on building only with bricks.

In the past month, I was in my "fowl period". All my lunchtime creations
turned out to be nothing but birds, ducks, and chicken, etc. But today, I
just had a breakthrough -- I produced a handsome 6-stud-wide cow. Too
bad I did not have a camera at hand, and by tomorrow I guess the cow
would have been dismantled.

Most works produced by my coworkers are abstract sculptures. Once in a
while you will see a ship or an airplane. So far I have not found any
people who shares my interests in building animals.

It seems that I take this lunchtime activity more seriously than my
coworkers. I always get laughed upon, when in the middle of lunch, I
suddenly stand up and walk from one table to another, seeking for a
brick in the right color and shape.

Cheers,
Hao-yang Wang

(...) Wow, you get an office! I only have a cube. I am still trying to figure out how to play with Lego without producing too much noise. Anybody has good ideas? Thanks, Hao-yang Wang (24 years ago, 13-Oct-00, to lugnet.general)

(...) There are, I think, many of us using this method. My office generally has various small models hidden behind files on the shelves up high. I try to keep things small, but every now and then a project from home that I can't bear to leave (...) (24 years ago, 16-Oct-00, to lugnet.general)
