For the following tires, the 1st number in the tire's side-wall

Part#     Side-wall Inscription   Hub Part#   Example Set
-------   ---------------------   ---------   -----------
6578     30.4 x 14 VR             2994       8247, 2129
6579     43.2 x 28 S              6580       8408
6594     49.6 x 28 VR             6595       8286

And... I thought of one more.  The 8446 green crane from 1999
and the new red 82xx car on Michael Edwards' page use a new tire
which, I *believe* fits this wheel (6595).  It is a treaded
baloon tire instead of a 'racing slick'.

I think you are just right. I assumed that they the same ones from the
sets 8459/5561/8858 but now realized that they look smaller (actually
narrower) when I recheck the picture of set 8446.

32019     62.4 x 20 S             32020       8479
2995     68.8 x 40 Q              2896       8437
32003     68.8 x 24 S             32004       5571 (Model Team only)
6596     81.6 x 14.2 Z            2903       8422
2902     81.6 x 15                2903       8838, 9719
2997     81.6 x 34 ZR             2998       8880
32196     81.6 x 34 ZR            32197       8448

32076     None                    32057       8417
32078     None                    32077       8428, 8462

Once again, any mistakes or omissions?

Well, you could always include the classic solid rubber tires
that fit the small classic 2x2 (approx) wheels.  But of course,
these tires (all three types) do not have their sizes written
on them.

Those have some variations through Lego history, too. Look at the
picture:

http://www.brickshelf.com/scans/0000/0394/0394-08.html

And their material now is much more soft and elastic than the one that
used in 70's and 80's. (I have many broken 2x2 axlehole hubs that break
while inserting them into those "hard" ones.

And there are two others for the same wheels, but not used in technic
sets ever. One is the smooth type of the smaller one (the oldest lego
tyre? -even it has two versions by the way, older gary and newer black
ones) and the other is a kind of tank tread that used widely in 1970's
6-wide vehicle models.

It's kind of off-topic for this group but what about making a complete
list of ALL Lego tyres/wheels/wheel hubs?

A few years ago, on RTL, Joshua D. posted a list of all "non-technic" wheels. There was a fairly long thread and I believe the list was complete. I think I saved that and will try to find it. Unfortunately, I'll be on the road for the next 5 days, (...) (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general)
