I was looking at a small Adventurers Egyptian set#5938 marked down to $5 at
local Wal-Marts and I was wondering if the older segmented palm trees are
officially discontinued and if therefore all of the new sets come with the
new "OnePiecePalmTree."

Which led me to ask, 1) will these old palm tress be selling for $10 each in a
few years and 2) how many people like the new tree better than the old? (which
should help answer question 1)

My two 5938's came directly from Legoland ($3 each there) and they have the
classic segmented palm tree.  Somehow, I have yet to get the one piece trunk.
Of course, the new tree sucks - it defeats the purpose of having Lego rather
than any other plastic tree.  With the segmented tree, I can make them vary in
height and give the trunk a unique shape.  I suppose I could mix in a certain
amount of the new tree, but I'm glad I have the a large stock of the
customizable ones.

If they start selling for $10, then I have at least $400 in palm trees!  I want
my jungle island to look like a jungle!  I'm going through my piles of Lego and
organizing them at the moment, so I'll have to see how many trees I actually
have, but I wouldn't be surprised to have over 50.

(...) I have a great deal of them too, but I would not sell them. I have to have some vegetation, even if it is a *palm tree*. :) Scott S. (25 years ago, 11-Jan-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.pirates, lugnet.adventurers)

I used to trade off my palm trees left and right, as I had no use for them. Now I am saving them (minemineMINE!), in case I build a beach/jungle. I got 30 of the 5938s at LLC too ;-) I wiped them out of their stock the day I was there a month or so (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.pirates, lugnet.adventurers)
