  Re: TLG investigation

(...) What would it take for them to police/enforce such a requirement? (...) What if someone wanted to buy 500 gray 2x4 bricks and there was a minimum purchase requirement of 10,000? --Todd (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Units (Was: Play "I can name that piece...")

(...) Just curious, how far back have you archived RTL? Wasn't someone going to do a history of RTL at one point? (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: TLG investigation

(...) It's impossible to know for sure, but I'd suppose there are somewhere between 1,500 and 3,000 total readers, all things considered (that is, lurkers and overlap between known sets of people due to multiple e-mail addresses). Some details: ~700 (...) (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: TLG investigation

(...) I used to work in the toy department of a large department store. The markup on almost all of our stuff between our cost and final retail price was about 100%. Some was even more. (...) This shouldn't be an issue. TLG can easily have a (...) (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: UFO's

(...) I wonder how much some of TLG new lines (some of which are fairly decent ideas) suffer from being launched all at once. Look at the Divers line. There are 12 sets, which are all more alike than different. It seems like every set had a sub (...) (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Units (Was: Play "I can name that piece...")

  Re: UFO's

I saw the same thing on the UFO sets, but it has been two model years for the sets (At least in the US), and usually, some retailers mark them down if they stay on the shelves. I thought the UFO's were decent (They had some great parts!) but the (...) (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

  UFO's

Just out of curiosity, has anyone else got the impression that the UFO's that were withdrawn this year might have completely flopped saleswise? I've seen tons of the two biggest UFO's going cheap. At the most extreme, Toys R Us had the second (...) (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: TLG investigation

(...) Hi, Jeroen! (...) Way cool. (...) Umm, as has been frequently mentioned, bulk part orders would be great. (...) Depends. If part of the sign-up is that TLG has greater freedom to use the ideas, concepts, models, etc. expressed by club members, (...) (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Units (Was: Play "I can name that piece...")

(...) But 1/20 is even better. Trust me, I use it all the time. Sometimes, I have a hard time down-converting to something I can discuss with other people without explaining myself. --Steve Studs are spaced at 20 pitch, Plates are 8 units high. (...) (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

  Packaging

What are people's views on whether the resale value of used boxed sets is affected by (a) whether they contain the 1-page catalogues and service sheets, and (b) whether they contain the transparent plastic bags most of the pieces come in.   Re: TLG investigation

(...) I have 3 6071's now. I want more. I might be satisfied with 10. I doubt it, though. (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Mindstorms expansion kits

(...) My local TRU has Extreme Creatures in great quantity (2 box width on the shelf, and both looked full all the way to the back). I'm not sure if they have 9730, though. Regards, BOB!! (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Units (Was: Play "I can name that piece...")

(...) Oops! (...) Hmmm, (digging through rilly old RTL news archives) wow, looks like the term LU meaning 1/6 standard brick height goes back at least about 4 years -- it appears first to have been suggested on 23 Apr 1995 by Kevin Horton. In a (...) (26 years ago, 15-Feb-99, to lugnet.general)
