  Re: Brick Battles

(...) Looks good. I'll probably have more comments after Gen Con. Frank (23 years ago, 9-Jul-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  Brick Battles

I've reformatted and tightened up the Brick Battles rules a bit, in prep for GenCon. I would appreciate any comments people have. (URL) (23 years ago, 2-Jul-03, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: New LEGO-themed PC game (not official)

(...) Sounds like you're going to be taking some legal risks no matter what you do, since LEGO has form patents on the minifig itself (as well as most of the weapons), if you have anything that "looks like" a minifig in the game, you're stepping on (...)   New LEGO-themed PC game (not official)

This is my first post to the LUGNET newsgroups after having joined LUGNET this month. It's actually one of the reasons I joined in the first place -- to get comments, suggestions, and even volunteers about this game from LUGNET members. So, here it (...)   Re: Legality query...

(...) Yah. I'd like to have it be a no-maintanance 'you can charge people to play, but you can't make money off it' disclaimer. And I'd like it to be short and succinct. I realize these two goals may be mutually incompatable... James (23 years ago, 24-Jun-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Legality query...

(...) Does that mean people would need to ask your permission to use it at Gencon then??? That's sort of the way that reads to me. (23 years ago, 24-Jun-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Legality query...

(...) I'm no lawyer, but if it were me I'd just say, "no revenue may be generated by the use or distribution of these rules, except in special circumstances with the express written consent of the author." - Mike. (23 years ago, 24-Jun-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  Legality query...

I have a question for the folks who are more aware of legalities and such than I... Currently, the Brick Battles rules have the following disclaimer: ----- Lego® is a registered trademark of the Lego® Group. This document is a Just This Side of (...) (23 years ago, 23-Jun-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Hendo...

(...) Indeed I will! That actually has been on my to-do list (which has been growing). I am going to have to devote more time to SS this weekend, but these things will be done, I guarantee. :) -GM Hendo (23 years ago, 11-Jun-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  Hendo...

Can you update my e-mail on the website to the correct jhk@jhkruer.com ? And can you update the Outer Rim's site to (URL) ? Thanks! -JHK (23 years ago, 8-Jun-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Full Thrust?

(...) I've considered using LEGO ships for Silent Death. It even could be a catchy title: "Silent LEGO Death"... Post your pics! Also, we should get in touch with that person and invite them into GameLUG. Frank (23 years ago, 2-Jun-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Full Thrust?

I have some pictures of an individual gamemastering Full Thrust at Gencon 02 using Lego ships. The construction was simple but effective and the players seemed to like them james "Don Cox" <the1hugh@yahoo.com> wrote in message (...) (23 years ago, 31-May-03, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Use of the LEGO(r) name/trademark in game instructions

(...) And it would be used respectfully. (...) I wouldn't even think of it. :) The game has a name (not yet finalized) that suggests the nature of the mechanism, but does not include the company name in any way. (...) This is precisely what I intend (...) (23 years ago, 24-May-03, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Use of the LEGO(r) name/trademark in game instructions

I think it comes down to how you use the trademark. Using it in the name of the game will not fly (because people could assume the game was a product of TLC). Mentioning in the game rules that TLC makes an excellent set of LEGO sets that can be used (...) (23 years ago, 9-May-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Renaming Gaming group

(...) Shweet! :) What I think is totally cool, and Todd hasn't even mentioned, is that member web pages got automagically updated too! Brick Battles is still under the .gaming hierarchy, even though that hierarchy has moved. Thanks for saving me (...) (23 years ago, 13-May-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.gaming)

Re: Use of the LEGO(r) name/trademark in game instructions

(...) Certainly seems to be true. The length to which they have embraced the community in the last couple years is an improvement, if you ask me. (...) Yes, that makes sense. It will be 100% non-violent, and if anything... aimed a bit more at kids (...) (23 years ago, 11-May-03, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Use of the LEGO(r) name/trademark in game instructions

(...) It probably could nowadays; LEGO Legal's attitude towards fan web pages has definitely lightened up quite a bit since BrikWars first came out. It used to seem like the barest mention of the word "LEGO" in a website resulted in immediate (...) (23 years ago, 10-May-03, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Use of the LEGO(r) name/trademark in game instructions

(...) If I recall correctly, the issue is the use of the LEGO name for a product that could potentially harm the LEGO brand. That is, BrikWars is a game of violence and destruction, and LEGO doesn't (didn't) produce toys with a violent and (...) (23 years ago, 9-May-03, to lugnet.gaming)

Use of the LEGO(r) name/trademark in game instructions

I noticed something on the BrikWars site the other night that caught my eye. It was the specific reference to the fact that the LEGO(r) trademark (and presumably other toy brick trademarks) had not been used in the instructions of the game, so as to (...)
