  Working on the FAQ

Hey y'all, We're really working to get a FAQ put together! :-, The FAQ will be patterned after the LUGNET site structure, and has room for Q+A on anything and everything you'd expect to see on LUGNET. If you have any questions for the FAQ -- or (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.announce)

Re: Raw FAQ data format (Was: Format of FAQ items)

(...) Oh waitaminute. I think I see where the confusion is. I'm not suggesting that the header text from the included file be inserted into the including file. What I mean to say is that during processing of the files, when the including file (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Sproaticus: (...) Yes, but it is not equally clear. Please forget that I mentioned it. (...) No (but it would mean that it should be reprocessed). Imagine this: "translating.da": Content-Language: da Revision: Jacob Sparre Andersen, 1999-04-28 (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Scope of FAQ?

(...) Start small, plan big. (...) Sure! (...) Sounds accurate to me. (...) If permission is granted explicitly, then sure -- as long as it isn't just dumped in without verifying it (since it's so old). BTW, the acronyms list, probably should IMHO (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Scope of FAQ?

Todd, Jacob, all, I've been putting together an intro message (kind of a call-to-arms :-) announcing the re-start of the FAQ and a list of Q+A posted to lugnet.faq . But have we determined the scope of the FAQ? How all-encompassing will it be? Is it (...) (25 years ago, 27-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: [FAQ] Post vs. mail, claimed topics

(...) OK, no problem, Larry. Thanks. :-, Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 27-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.general)

Re: [FAQ] Post vs. mail, claimed topics

(...) Bandwidth constraints suggest to me that I should relinquish claim on these topics if someone else wants to take a crack at them, as they need doing. (25 years ago, 27-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.general)

Re: [FAQ] Post vs. mail, claimed topics

(...) What?!? You mean you don't know? :-, I actually have no clue about this one. But I am waiting to hear a good story about it. (1) :-, Cheers, - jsproat 1. HINT HINT NUDGE NUDGE, Larry. (25 years ago, 27-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq, lugnet.general)

Re: Working sketch of FAQ item data format

(...) This was my original argument for include. However, Todd already has a mechanism to figure this out on the fly. (...) Not necessarily. There are situations where you don't want to assume association with all parent directories. For example, we (...) (25 years ago, 27-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Raw FAQ data format (Was: Format of FAQ items)

(...) Since header order is important, this should work pretty well. (...) Not bad either. Wouldn't changing an included file imply that the including file has also changed? (...) ^^^...^^^ Huh? (...) But then we'd have to run the thing through a (...) (25 years ago, 27-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Raw FAQ data format (Was: Format of FAQ items)

Todd: (...) It depends on the chosen encoding of the document. I would expect most people^H^H^H^H^Hrogrammers to use plain 16 bit Unicode BMP[1]. Since I am too lazy to get my computer to operate with another character encoding (than Latin-1), I (...) (25 years ago, 27-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Sproaticus: (...) Not really. (...) Both approaches are ok with me. (...) We need a (secondary) resource that translates the Lugnet relative URI's to (more) meaningful text. Aren't "/market/" and "/" implied when you write "/market/auction/"? (...) (...) (25 years ago, 27-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)
