Re: Working sketch of FAQ item data format

(...) Off-the-wall question -- haven't thought about this -- just tossing it out: Would an 'exclude' also be useful in addition to 'include'? (Both are relatively easy to implement.) --Todd (26 years ago, 30-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Progress so far, and a new header

(...) SURE!!! --Todd (26 years ago, 30-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Progress so far, and a new header

(...) Gesundheit! (...) Dude! All right! (...) In cases like this, it's perfectly OK to correct typos and misuses of trademarks (especially TLG trademarks). That is to say, this question could just as well be re-written as: Subject: What is (...) (26 years ago, 30-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Format of FAQ items

(...) Jeremy, Here's what I was chattering about -- here's a little demo of the prototype ng-hierarchy-TOC generator that I use to help visualize the ng layout whenever a question comes up... A top-level overview, going 2 layers deep: (URL) Just the (...) (26 years ago, 30-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Who's who in Legoland

(...) Ha! Wow. Cool. (...) Yeah, me too. It's just as good as the GIF, for all practical purposes. --Todd (26 years ago, 30-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Who's who in Legoland

(...) I wholeheartedly agree. In fact, this is what I've done with your graph in the Market/Auction/Awareness/5 FAQ. Which brings up the potential of ASCII art. Before the graph, Todd, you have a commented-out, preformatted ASCII chart of the same (...) (26 years ago, 29-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Progress so far, and a new header

(...) Not to be anal-retentive, but you've forgotton the colons. Um, I'm not sure a pun was intended there. :-P Also, we should probably start keeping track of headers which may repeat, and those which are optional. Otherwise, it amtches my list. (...) (26 years ago, 29-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Progress so far, and a new header

Jeremy: (...) Both the "Originator" and the "Comment" header entries make sense. Play well, Jacob ---...--- -- E-mail: sparre@cats.nbi.dk -- -- Web...: <URL:(URL) -- ---...--- Here's the edited list of header entries (please verify that I haven't (...) (26 years ago, 29-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Raw FAQ data format (Was: Format of FAQ items)

Jeremy: (...) I didn't think so. What I tried to explain was how the processing tools would see the file _after_ the "Include" header had been processed. (...) ~~~...~~~ This is the critical part. I hadn't noticed it earlier. (...) Yes. Play well, (...) (26 years ago, 29-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Who's who in Legoland

(...) IMO: Embed links to webpages or directly to images via the <A> tag, but don't embed images with the <IMG> tag -- that's getting too carried away. Any collection of images worth linking to (for example, sets or minifig or parts imges) should be (...) (26 years ago, 29-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Who's who in Legoland

(...) might (...) Why not just have two versions of the FAQ? One with images, one without. The content would virtually be the same(1). Jeff 1 - Just a short caption by images would suffice, I think. (26 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Microfig Borg Cube

(...) Oh, *that* catalog. :-, I thought it was a cheat-sheet sort of thing with mnemonics and all sorts of memory-keeping features. I definitely think that the LDraw FAQ should include a quick-n-dirty cheat sheet, then. Earlier in this thread (1) (...) (26 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Progress so far, and a new header

Another header...? I want to be able to make context-specific notes on the FAQ items, which will not be exposed in the final output. I'm thinking of something like a Comment: header, which the parser will discard during processing. Cheers, - jsproat (26 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Scope of FAQ?

(...) You or I could start work on this before translations or FAQ subset extraction are implemented; the bulk of the work in snarfing a FAQ will be to copy the existing questions into their own files and start creating headers. Cheers, - jsproat (26 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

Progress so far, and a new header

FAQ crew, I've gathered 23 questions for the FAQ so far (1), and stuffed them into a holding patteren until the header format is closer to being finalized. In the mean time: I feel that we should allow an Originator header, to give credit towards (...) (26 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Who's who in Legoland

(...) Hmmm, I would imagine that images would have to be linked to. One intent for the FAQ is for it to be delivered in plaintext format via e-mail, nntp, or Morse Code if needed; inline images would get in the way. I agree, though, that images (...) (26 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Who's who in Legoland

I have a question: will the faq be able to display graphics? If so, this might be helpful in ID'ing who Timmy is, what a Timmy-torso is, etc. rather by pix than by text. It's obviously more work but I just I'd ask. -Tom McD. when replying, note that (...) (26 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: Microfig Borg Cube

(...) Steve, Do you happen to have a URL for Patrick's catalog? Cheers, - jsproat (26 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.faq)
