Re: BrickFest 2007 location —John Watson
(...) Oh, I so hope the discussion can be, "in addition to Washington", instead of "instead of Washington". I've attended BrickFest with my son, 8 years old, as a member of the public for the last 3 years. I think you should not underestimate the (...)         Re: BrickFest 2007 location —Kirsten Lynch
(...) I don't think having more than one BrickFest is a viable option. We need one event to plan and pool our time and resources into, and if we begin to splinter into "The DC BrickFest", "The Midwest BrickFest", and the "West Coast BrickFest", the (...)         Re: BrickFest 2007 location —Mark Neumann
(...) Snip I disagree. This has already happened. It's called NWBrickCon. You might of heard of it. We're into 5 years of fest activities now. About a year or so shy of BrickFest. Now there was a one time spin off of BF-PDX. Which, from my (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: BrickFest 2007 location —David Eaton
(...) Well, I don't think that's necessarily the point. I think there are a few sub issues here: 1) There should only be one major Lego convention every year 2) There shouldn't be MORE major Lego conventions every year 3) BrickFest shouldn't divide (...)          Re: BrickFest 2007 location —Frank Filz
(...) I think our hobby is large enough to sustain multiple fests. Sure, most folks will only attend one per year. Other folks are willing, able, and excited, to attend multiple. That said, most hobbies also have one major event per year. In some (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: BrickFest 2007 location —Kelly McKiernan
(...) - Mucho snippo - (...) Comparisons with SF cons are pretty valid - especially if you consider HoB's affiliation with one in Chicago. In the end, I think it'll come down to fan saturation and "market" pressures - what venues will be able to (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: BrickFest 2007 location —Tommy Armstrong
(...) I really do not think so--BrickFest DC may always be the "granddaddy" but there is plenty of room for others. NW BrickCon has grown every year (and the more it grows, the better for me-if they still continue to get their badges from me). They (...) (18 years ago, 15-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: BrickFest 2007 location —Joseph Greene
Hey, Ever hear of WorldCon. It's The premiere SciFi con, it moves every year and groups compete/bid for 2-3 years in advance to host it. So I see no reason why brickfest in all its glory could not become similar. I for one have never been to, and (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: BrickFest 2007 location —Steve Hassenplug
(...) Clearly, it's not that easy. Or, this discussion would not be taking place. For John and his son, the best place for BrickFest is DC. For me, it would be Indy. My son(s) don't yet have an opinion, because they haven't yet made the ten hour (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: BrickFest 2007 location —Leigh Holcombe
(...) I'm not sure exactly where in DC Brickfest is held, but traffic on the Capitol beltway can be just as horrendous as traffic in Chicago or Atlanta. We've gotten to the point in the US where traffic just about anywhere is maddening. Houston, (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)
