(...) Not at all- it really is pretty cool. And the track is extremely cheap (at least compared to 9v). If you are looking for a train that will run around a Christmas tree and be able to handle prying little fingers, this is the way to go. And even (...) (...) Thanks- I had thought about doing this with Mindstorms instead, using a light sensor to detect the train. I was very happy to be able to come up with a *much* simpler and cheaper solution. Tony, This is pretty ingenious! Heh- sorry about the wide distribution, but this fits into a lot of categories. I have a new creation up on my site, a device for defeating the timer on the Duplo battery trains. This uses Duplo Trains, Technic, and a critical Znap part. I call it (...) (24 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.duplo, lugnet.org.us.sealug, lugnet.technic, lugnet.znap, lugnet.build) !

(...) Buy track, and tunnels, I'm not impressed with the new sets (see below). If that's your 1st bridge, buy another, much more you can do with two. The figures and models seem geared towards a roughly real-world scale (as opposed to say, minifig scale... in which cars are never wide enough for two people to sit side-by-side). (...) DUPLO is like "double" or "duplicate" or "duplicity" -- i.e. 2x, which is how much bigger LEGO DUPLO bricks are compared to LEGO SYSTEM bricks. (Well, 2x in each of 3 dimensions, anyway.)
