I fear that TLC may attribute the strong sales of the Star Wars sets to Star Wars fanaticism rather than good set design. I realize that putting the "Star Wars" name on anything is going to increase sales and in fact it is what got me back into LEGO (...) (25 years ago, 28-Dec-99, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.starwars)

Brad, I've gotten a few "special" sets, 1775 and 2149 in particular, that are densely packed in order to take up as little storage space as possible. Yeah I have input on this one... Take the tente sets from the early 80's they had all this...now make them to minifig scale in Lego design and I know all us boat, ferry, tanker, airplane carrier and oceanic research center fanatics will have hours (...) Another hypothetical implementation of bulk sales could have online databases showing the factory production schedules of what pieces, with deadlines for ordering so you could get pieces quickly. I believe that my 25 years of collecting and building with the Brick, and about $50,000 spending - not counting increased rents, storage materials and other expenses - during that time, qualifies me as "serious".
