Re: Technic, what happened to the good old days?

Hi all me again. Earlier in the week I posted this: (...) Well I have posted some pictures on brickshelf of the synchromesh gears and differencial with a crown gear. There is some other new parts I'de like to see lego put into production. (URL) (18 years ago, 26-Jul-06, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Technic, what happened to the good old days?

(...) I agree. A space themed technic based line could really showcase some cool stuctural building techniques and could be tied in with lego system quite nicely. These should be completely new and not limited to designs in a movie franchise. (...) (...) (18 years ago, 21-Jul-06, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Technic, what happened to the good old days?

(...) You know, I still have never owned that set, and would still like to at some point, maybe if I can buy a mint one on brickshelf or ebay I would. It was one of the best. You know, I always thought that a massive crossover between the space line (...) (18 years ago, 21-Jul-06, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Technic, what happened to the good old days?

I grew up during, what was in my opinion, the golden age of technic (1992-1996 was the best). I remember seeing a technic model in those square catalogues and thinking WOW. So many functions and new functional pieces. I remember staring at pictures (...) (18 years ago, 19-Jul-06, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: TLGs wasteful box sizes?

From the very first basic sets of 1949, until 1965.... all Lego Basic Sets were nicely housed in flat boxes with all the elements displayed in checkerboard and zig-zag patterns. It was almost like opening a box of chocolates, with everything so (...) (18 years ago, 14-Jul-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: TLGs wasteful box sizes?

(...) snip 8< (...) When I bought a 4757 when thay went on sale at Wally-the-walrus-mart last year, I asked an associate why LEGO boxes no longer hav windows, she answered someting like, "Because kids would tear the windows and steal the elements". (...) (18 years ago, 14-Jul-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: TLGs wasteful box sizes?

(...) I hear you, Danny...! Not only technic sets, most of the medium-large sized System sets also had the cellophane window highlighting some of the sets' parts. Unfortunately, they did away with all this cool packaging to save costs. 9 times out (...) (18 years ago, 13-Jul-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: TLGs wasteful box sizes?

(...) At least in the case of PC's the dead space can be justified for air flow and cooling. When I received the red technic pneumatic studless truck ((URL) there were two boxes, one for the truck, one for the back end, with some dead space because (...)   Re: TLGs wasteful box sizes?

(...) You're right, the boxes are definitely way too big for their contents. But in addition to the billboard qualities of a large box, they also help justify the price. It would probably be harder to convince parents to shell out $30 bucks for a (...) (18 years ago, 13-Jul-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego, FTX)

  Re: TLGs wasteful box sizes?

LEGO's standard policy is that the main model on the cover of the box is shown life-sized. (At least that was the policy when I worked at the Imagination Center at the Mall of America.) If LEGO goes to a smaller box size, people will need to know (...) (18 years ago, 13-Jul-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

  TLGs wasteful box sizes?

A link from a Prius list I run had an interesting blurb: (URL) Wal-Mart wants to help shape a sustainable future, and few companies are in a better position to do so. ... "Right-sizing" the boxes on just one line of toys—redesigning them to be just (...) (18 years ago, 13-Jul-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

  On line LEGO building Instructions

Hi, You have certainly noticed that TLC offers free online PDF building instructions downloads. In fact, TLC has not, AFAIK, officially announced or publicized this. Until now, only old (more than 3 years old) BIs were available for donwloading, for (...) (19 years ago, 15-May-06, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general, lugnet.inst)

  Factory, questions & comments

So I downloaded the 1.6 version of LDD, and threw together a few simple mocs (jlug container car, simple town park, old red phone booth for town)... to check out pricing et al. The prices seemed fairly inline, until I did up micro version of the old (...) (19 years ago, 12-May-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.dear-lego, FTX)

  Re: Quality problem issue

(...) (URL) ultimate insult to a train fan. (:^o) (...) -snippage- (...) Yes, it's an attempted French 'pun', just for you ! :^) I almost used 'Santa Feigh'. Australians like to intersperse their language with French words and phrases, in a poor (...) (19 years ago, 10-May-06, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Possible idea for The LEGO Company

(...) It would be neat if TLC did a basic brick/plate/slope box(or one stud bottle), say a 200 peice, in each color for a reasonable price, around $6.50. No marketing required, just offer it in their retail stores/S@H and occasionally send out a (...) (19 years ago, 4-May-06, to lugnet.dear-lego, FTX)

  Re: Quality problem issue

(...) Here they are : (URL) weirdest bag is probably this one : (URL) you can notice a train (grey) part among colored bricks. At least one guy has encountered the same problem with a BNSF set. (...) Is this a try for a play on word with the french (...) (19 years ago, 9-May-06, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.trains)

  Re: Quality problem issue

(...) You may have received Santa Faux engines instead. (19 years ago, 4-May-06, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Quality problem issue

Hi, Today I've received three Santa Fe engines. (URL) of them were filled with some pieces of paperboard and five creator-like bags (standard multicolored bricks). The pieces of paperboard was clearly there to fix the bags. This let me think it was (...) (19 years ago, 4-May-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.loc.fr, lugnet.org.fr.freelug, lugnet.dear-lego)

Dear Lego, Any idea when/if alternate building instructions for 7712 will be posted at exoforce.lego.com? My son and I have enjoyed the entire Exo-Force line and love some of the alternates pictured. All the other sets have alternate instructions (...) (19 years ago, 17-Apr-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Possible idea for The LEGO Company

(...) Holy moley! Where did you see these? In Canadialand? Which province? And which dollar store (since there are so many variations)? And do you really spell it "Doller" up there? Is that like "humour"? Any idea of a piece-count in the bags? Do (...) (19 years ago, 21-Mar-06, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)
