  How rare is...

How rare is a white Technic axle? -- Kenneth A. Drumm Ph.D. who is running out of things to put in this space! (23 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

White Technic axles are pretty rare, I guess. I know they come in the 8480 Space Shuttle, and maybe some of the ThrowBots. -Andy Lynch ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kenneth A. Drumm Ph.D." <arcanamachi@netzero.net> (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

Oh yes, you're right. I remember that there is at least one "Technic Axle 5.5 With Stop" (URL) the ZNAP set: "3571 Blackmobile with Motor" (URL) may be in others as well. Set 3571 was on discount for $10 at Toys R Us a while back. I was keeping the (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

That must be it they come from my new Space Shuttle cause they are not in any of the Slizer's I got, and I got 'em all. -- Kenneth A.   Re: How rare is...

(...) The ZNAP forklift has 2 white #12 axles. The large set with the motor has one. The space shuttle has #8 and #4 white axles. some set I opened recently had white #5 axles I think (without the stop disc). I used 12 of the forklifts on clearance (...)   Re: How rare is...

No, i think there was a set with 2 either 12 or 10 long white axles... Kevin Loch used them in his radio tower (can't find a picture this second though) along with lots of red ones... (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

(...) All of the responses so far have focused on true white axles (which are somewhat rare). There are also #5 axles with stop which are much more common. Then there are translucent "white" axles. These predated the classic black axles and last (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

(...) Indeed. And I've also noticed these ones are suseptible to (permanent) bending. Several of my old axles have slight bends in them, making them less useful as axles. Still useful as linkages, though. Regards, ROSCO (23 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

(...) I believe two of those (#8) axles appeared in <set:912> - David (23 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

They were used as masts in 314 and 315, two of the old ships-series. They were also used in the old Model-team: the Harley and the Norton (393 & 394) feature a few as axles, footrests and antenna. The Rolls Royce (395) uses one for its steering (...) (23 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

(...) White is becoming less rare. Back in the days when Technic was The Only Theme That Matters (TM) all cross axles were black and all technic elements were gray. Now anything goes. But the current design is available in: Black -- 2, 2 w/notches, (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

(...) There are two 5.5 with stop and one #12 (or was it #10?) in ZNAP set 3521: (URL) of the sets I bought had a damaged long axle, I'll take som photos of it. It's been ruined in the mold or while still warm. (I bought two copies to get four 6582 (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

Thanks all. I got my answer. It was an extra from my Space Shuttle. Heres another one a BRICK with Technic axle holes in ALL sides. -- Kenneth A. Drumm Ph.D. (23 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

(...) I still remember looking longingly at the catalogue at this set. I still am, boy do I want a 912 now. junior (23 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

(...) I was(am) lucky enough to actually have it :) Hate to rub it in, but it was indeed a great set and I spent hours with it as a child. In many ways it was a pre-technic set (I think there was no Technic theme back in 1976) with axles, motor, (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

(...) Yeah, there are a couple of those in this set. The grey brick was used to hold the axles for those red spoked wheels and the really neat tracks. I just recently purchased a copy of set 404, which is pretty much identical to 912. Why are there (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

(...) Aha, the penny drops. I have two of those (grey) from one of the old gear sets as well, pretty much all that remains from these sets. I enjoyed them at the time too, but when the Technic stuff came out, well, that was that... Jennifer Clark (23 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

(...) I have one in Gray, 2x4. I believe it came with my Universal Motor set 901, and is one of the few pieces of it I have left. Gee thanks all. I just got the 2x4 BRICK with Technic axle holes in ALL sides in a trade with my ex-stepbrother. So that's why I was wondering. -- Kenneth A.
