(...) that part (and it's name) come from partsref - we try to use partsref names whenever we can, unless it's for a part that isn't available as a dat yet. I like the idea of better indexing, and would be happy to incorporate any new method into peeron - now someone just has to write it :) I know that indexing by a non-unique field (which is the part number) is a bad thing - it's just the easiest and (...) Currently, there are three active major part databases out there: Partsref, Peeron Inventories, and the BrickLink Catalog.
