Re: Misnomer: we are all Lego collectors!

(...) That's because people are trying to redefine the term collector and it's confusing people. You might consider yourself a Lego "builder" but to 99.9% of the world, you are a Lego collector. If someone plays with Hot Wheels, I would call him a (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Misnomer: we are all Lego collectors!

Heh...I've collected a lot things over the years: bugbites, cavities, pounds...if anyone is interested, i'd love to scalp some of these things :^D (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Worth the wait? (NO!)

(...) I have to ask (others may be wondering too), how you can know all this stuff. I recall about a month ago you stated that you do not work for Lego, but here, you are listing, what I would consider, company organization processes. You even refer (...) (...) My girlfriend calls us all "LEGO nerds". -Marc Nelson Jr. (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Worth the wait? (NO!)

(...) That reminds of the story of Tom Clancy. After releasing one of his books (the Hunt for Red October I think), the U.S. Navy started investigating him for military leaks. Seem that they felt he knew too much about their subs. Then he showed him (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Misnomer: we are all Lego collectors!

Yes, I am a collector, I guess there is no way around it. I call myself a builder. I gotta say, their are folks out there that just buy a set and either build it and place it on a shelf or save the unopened box, these guys are not builders. Eric (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Misnomer: we are all Lego collectors!

(...) Too late. The word has already been stigmatized. Two words: Beanie Babies. When someone says "collector" I think of someone who MUST HAVE EVERY ITEM. I certainly don't fit that description, whether or not someone else perceives my hobby that (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Future Castle Legends Survey

Since everyone seems to have an opinion on the new Legends series, I thought it would be fun to have a little poll on which sets we want Lego Direct to release for its next Castle Legends (or Classics, for that matter) offering. (understanding, of (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Misnomer: we are all Lego collectors!

(...) Hey if you're going to pick a field where people are encouraged to 'buy them all,' you should have picked Pokemon or even Bionicles. ;) But seriously, the terms "stamp collector," "coin collector," "action figure collector," etc. are all (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Future Castle Legends Survey

6077 Knight's Procession - six of the coolest generic knights around! 6060 Knight's Challenge - two horse bardings, a peasant, two white dome pieces, etc. 6080 King's Castle - my favorite Castle set. IMHO, the best Lego designed Castle ever. Jimmy (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Misnomer: we are all Lego collectors!

(...) Ohhh Kaayy...Pokémon but no castle here. Really needs to move to .debate (sorry to police, but GEEZ! Pokémon?) Matt (trying again) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Misnomer: we are all Lego collectors!

(...) <snip> (...) uh...if you really wanted to clarify a word, isn't it best to offer the actual definition of that word? I can't seem to find my dictionary, but i did find my thesaurus and the first word it uses to describe "collect" is "gather". (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Misnomer: we are all Lego collectors!

(...) From Dictionary.com: col·lec·tor (k-lktr) n. 1. One that collects: a solar energy collector; a dust collector. 2. A person employed to collect taxes, duties, or other payments. 3. A person who makes a collection, as of stamps. 4. An electrode (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Worth the wait? (NO!)

(...) Which pretty much confirms my guess - complaining about re-issueing old sets instead of coming up with old-style-but-new-designs is tilting at windmills. The forces that got us the one are effectively removed from the process of getting the (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Future Castle Legends Survey

Here’s what I think… The next installment of the Legends line will be Space or Town. Not Castle! Since the ‘Legends line’ is a -tri-annual- series, the next theme to follow will likely be of another system. ( I'm hoppin’ for Pirate) Only next year (...)   Re: Future Castle Legends Survey

(...) I agree with those two as well as someone else suggest about 6077. I'd also like to see (yeah, I know, I'm breaking the three set limit but I don't want to just be a "me to" guy here): 6061, the Siege Tower. Castle walls in the modular form (...)   Re: Future Castle Legends Survey

(...) I know I know! I read Brad's announcement. But still let's *hope* we see a new Castle Legend sometime next year, the the year after that, etc. Let the Space people have their survey, and the Pirate people theirs! There already is a technic (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Future Castle Legends Survey

(...) <snip> (...) I still think this would be a great re-issue! I didn't think of it, but that doesn't mean it isn't high on my list. :) my other two... <set:6048 Majisto's Magical Workshop>. This is one of my favorite sets, although it probably (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Future Castle Legends Survey

(...) I was going to say 6061 Seige Tower. I'd rather have the Seige Tower than the Battering Ram from the sets, but from an overall point, I like the more complete wall and tower from the 6062 and extra figs. I'd be happy with either. My bet is (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.dear-lego)
