Yes - the peasant torso had already been around for years, used in both the
peasants and in some of the forestmen (with the torso in green).
(Then, the torso made a reappearance in Dark Forest, but slightly
modified. Again in green, but with a shoulder strap added onto it
(and perhaps other very minor changes).)
I can't think of any other castle torso that was produced in three colors, except
for the plate armor torso (not chainmail), which was usually covered up
with the removable external armor. This torso's come in black, blue,
and red, so the venerable peasant torso is tied for first place among
castle torsos for the "comes in most colors" award. But I think the
peasant torso was used much more creatively. The armored torso
was just used to make different knights - roughly all equivalent. But
the peasant torso was used to make peasants, robin hood figures, and
wizards ... pretty cool.
Majisto was a GREAT figure in that, as Steve says, his specialness
was in his parts. His torso could be anything, another peasant or
whatnot. His beard was removable and could be put on other figures.
You can take off his hat and replace it with a hood or hair or any
other hat.
You could easily make a black Majisto with a black witch's hat and
the beard (using any old black torso - it's mostly hidden by the beard
anyway), or you can make a green Majisto with the green wizard's hats
that came in the freestyle sets a year or two ago. I love having a forestmen
wizard (actually she's a druidess).
Majisto was cool. Perhaps at the time I was a bit annoyed at the prospect
of having 10 duplicate blue wizards, but it didn't take me long to figure out
what to do them. More peasants, different looking wizards (young vs old),
etc. The polybag with Majisto pulling a wagon? We'll probably never
again see the peasant torso available so cheaply.
I wish they'd make the peasant torso in black, for an offical black Majisto
figure.
