I did not modify the armor Tho I have heard about doing so here somewhere.
The only helmets that I used were the visored helms.  tho I have found that
the new pan helm from the 2000 castle sets works with the shouder armor and
that the long (female?) hair works as well. (but doesn't do a very good job
stoping a broadsword) the bullet helms almost work and I bet if you really
pushed hard you could get them to stay on. i havent tried cause They seem • to
look funny and I'm afraid of breaking something. (lego not a bone ;) I have
used the shoulder armor because I think it looks real cool, I seem to have
alot of it (ten total 3 grey) and cause I only have 2 of the medeival armor
pieces.  (two more are susposed to be in the king's Mountain fortress that • I
won on auction but I'm not counting chickens till they hatch.)

It looks to me that the bullet helms, the new kettle helms, and
the "visored helms" (armets) all fit pretty well if you put the head
in the helm first, then stick the whole thing on. As far as I can tell,
the other helm types don't work without modifying something.
