Top 8 ways to get out of a slump ... —Pawel Nazarewicz
I'm sure I'm not the only one that has been in one of those. They tend to last anywhere from a day to six months to maybe even longer. The questions is: What can you do about them once they are there? I have been through enough of them to accumulate (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle) !

Re: Top 8 ways to get out of a slump ... —Mark Sandlin
Thanks for the suggestions, Pawel! Even though your post was geared toward Castle folk, I think there are enough good pointers in here, to crosspost to .build. These suggestions can benefit anyone, IMHO. (...) Yeah, many of my MOCs have gone from (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.build)

Re: Top 8 ways to get out of a slump ... —Jonathan Mizner
(...) Thanks for the ideas! I have two suggestions, though. #1, Carry a small sketchbook with you whenever possible. Put a mechanical pencil into it, and sketch ideas when you think of them (a B2 pod attacked by a swinging arm to a rocket booster). (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.build)

(I agree with Mark, so XP to .build) (...) <snip> (...) <snip> (...) To Pawel's defense (not that he needs any, his ideas are all great ;-), his few ideas got me out of my own builder's block back around November-December of last year. Felix, Scar (...)      (...) I like this idea. Sometimes I try to get detailed early on in a project and end up with something I didn't plan to have. Usually it'll look cool but I won't be pleased with it. (...) This has been a real problem for me. I tend to think really (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

(...) BTW, another good one is the Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves soundtrack. :^) ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (23 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

(...) to (...) questions (...) Good ideas. Another one that I haven't seen anyone else say yet is to switch themes. If you're in a rut in Castle, try some Space or Town stuff. This will get you focused on something completely different and give you (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

In lugnet.castle, Timothy D. Freshly replied to Pawel with: (...) How about a switch in time? And if you look to history for models, go to books hoping to find that very buildable inspiration! Take this as a plug for my Ancient Theme contest... (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

Wise words Pawel, and techniques I've been using lately. One other rut-losing method I've found that works for me is switching genre's. I know, I know, how could a dedicated Pirate-head like myself, one who only started buying legos after (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.build)

(...) I've found this technique to be very helpful too. For those of you who have visited my site, I have a wide variety of different themes that I build in, from Technic to space to sculpture to my current focus, which is town. I get hooked into a (...)       (...) I was having a temporary builder's block last night - not the kind of month-long slump that we've been discussing here, but an inability to make what I wantedto build (oddly enough, a minifig-scale mech) come out right.
