I was just at Kay Bee.  Saw they had 2 6097 left.  Has 597 something • pieces.
They had it on clearance for 40 bucks.  I have NO castle sets except a few
Ninja sets and the original Seige Tower and Yellow Castle.  I do not mix up • my
pieces either, so I wouldn't be buying it for the parts.  Is it still worth
getting?  They were also clearing out the witch with the dragon over her • head
(Witches Windship?) for 5 bucks.  Any advice would be great.

So you'd be buying these sets as display models, or to build and put back
in their boxes?

I dunno.  Working within those parameters I have no way to guess whether
these sets would be worth it to you.   I can really only give advice from my
own context, since I don't understand yours.

Personally, I'd jump at the chance to  buy both of  them at  that price, for
their elements and the minifigs.

It makes a great big, rather goofy looking "cathedral of evil" looking
building.  It's nice to have a big construct that doesn't rely on a raised
baseplate for its height.  The interior of the building is nicely done.
I like seeing the old fabuland cauldron make an appearance as a witch's
cauldren.

Many of the minifigures are quite stylish and would fit well in any castle
scheme.  I particularly like the dark gray torso with the silver "dalek"
pattern printed on it, and the light gray torso with red markings.  I like
the Bat Lord's torso, too.  Heck, I admit it - I think the bat lord is a
nifty
figure, silly helmet and all.  I just wish his face wasn't frowning so.
(But
I figure that he's frowning because his helmet is off, and he relaxes and
smiles once you put his helmet back on ...  hahah)

Anyway, I think it's a good set, and quite a deal at that price.  But that's
me.  If
you like the way the set looks in the catalogs and it would please you to
build it,
buy it.  =)

I'd get the windships, too, for the dragons and to have some black witch
hats to outfit your warlocks.

Yeah, I like to just build them as display models every now and then. My apartment has very limited space(especially with the 8448 sitting on the top shelf) and storage is an issue. It looks really neat, but since I don't have any others in its (...) (25 years ago, 18-Nov-99, to lugnet.castle)
