This is a tough question - are we trying to be semi-historical or any and all
that is actually depicted in the line? Do Ninja have cannon and muskets of the
1600s, which places them outside of the time frame of european Castles? Do
Dragon Masters and Fright Knights get to use magic and dragons? I'm presuming
they bring what the are depicted with (dragons, magic, cannon, etc.).
1. Boy, is this gonna annoy people. Fright Knights. What can you say to a
dragon? These would completely neutralize enemy cavalry - horses are leery of
any big smelly thing that they haven't been specifically exposed to.
Elephants and camels spook them, so a dragon should really send them into a
panic. Magic: I suppose if Willa was any good at this, she'd fix her teeth,
but you have to figure she could at least neutralize Majisto, and be one up on
everyone else. Barded cavalry. Armor runs a little light, and not a lot of
bow power.
2. Dragon Masters. Weaker armor in general than the Fright Knights. Dragons.
Magic (ya gotta figure Majisto is better than Willa). Little cavalry, and
chariots are tricky and limited. Again, poor bow power. I like the Fright
Knights better armor and cav.
3. I can't figure out where Black Knights start and where Black Falcons end.
Are they seperate? Anyway, the best balance in a standard medieval army.
Great heavy cav, a decent supply of line foot and archers. Lots of field
equipment. But them, I'm lumping them together and perhaps I shouldn't.
4. Ninjas. Ninjas have cannon, and that's about all they bring to the battle
unless you consider them ashigari and give 'em spears or muskets because
otherwise they are completely unsuited to mass combat. Samurai look great one
on one, but so did the celts and see what Ceasar did to them. Still, solid
foot troops, but lightly armored and no shields to protect them from arrows.
Cav has a breastplate, but they use their lance as a banner holder and are
suspect in a charge therefore. High morale and discipline is their strength.
Wolfpack, Forestmen and Dark Forest are all unsuited to open field combat.
Broken field, forests, and other hurly-burly is what they have to stick to.
Little cav, little heavy weapons, but lots of bows. These are best when allied
with one of the other factions, and then they become deadly with solid infantry
and cav.
The rest are close to the Ninja, but need an alliance with one of the
aforementioned three to achieve proper balance.
