Hello,
I have heard a lot of people say that the new lego helmet is more 15th - 16th
centu ry than earlier periods. The Helmets name escapes me for now, but it was
used in the 13th century a lot as one of the main style of helms besides the
norman and great helm. I know it was used a lot in Henry 8 day, but it is
perfectly suitable for the 1200's period. Though I don't think I would use it
in an earlier peiod than that.
Personally I think this is one of lego's greatest improvements dealing with
armor since the ealier days of armor. Unfortunatly unless they make an
accessory pack with 2 of the helmets in them, I look for many bidding wars for
them. as well as high cost by buying sets. I know I need at least 100 - 150 of
them. :)
I'm sure there are others with likewise plans. I do think lego has went down
hill with there cheap plastic sword material compared to the old days with the
hard plastic. Of course kids can't poke their eyes out as easy, but its a hard
price to pay for us hobbiest. The new crossbow in brown is great!!! They
should have made it that color to begin with since metal color isn't the best
thing for a wooden crossbow of the period. :/
Also while I am rambling on I would like to ask who else is working on a large
castle project and what color? Large in the since of costing at least $20,000
or more.
Also anyone who has some 2x2 gray plates and 2x3, 2x4 I could use a few to
help with my current project. any number would help. also a couple of 1x1 gray
tiles would help.
Thanks, please feel free to comment :)

| (...) The Kettle hat, or Kettle helm, or Ketyl(l) hat/helm, or chapelle-de-fer originated around 1200 give or take a few years, as you note. No doubt there are further names for it, those are just the ones I'm familair with. They seem to have (...) (25 years ago, 26-Dec-99, to lugnet.castle)
