I am starting to actually _create_ MLCAD based models and I am having

am having trouble locating. I have opened .dat files recently that I know
contain those parts, I just can't seem to locate them within the MLCAD
interface.

One more part-finding suggestion:  if you're online, use Partsref or
Peeron.com.

<http://guide.lugnet.com/partsref/framed> gives you a list of all the
Partsref categories, and a search function.
<http://www.peeron.com/inv/> gives you a search box that will hit all
recorded parts and sets.

Once you know a part's name, you should be able to track it down in
MLCAD more easily.
