That sounds like a really wise idea...and positively A/R, • which is a Good
Thing too.  :-)

A/R??

A/R??

And not only that (but related), there probably is a good • reason to have an
extras.dat file to codify the extra elements that come with a • set (things
like extra 1x1 round plates, extra visors, extra skeleton • arms, etc. -- all

stickers, which are production accidents)).

Good idea..

And have you made a list of all those extra pieces, Todd? You
can't expect
people to do that on their own if all they have is the
instructions.
Personally I don't like the idea because it really has nothing
to do with
building the model.

BTW, it's asking for trouble to allow filenames beginning with • /, because a
filename beginning with / means "start at the root directory." •  Leaving off
the initial / means that the filename is relative to the • current working
directory, which is typically the c:\ldraw\models directory.

Ok.

Use of a leading / is a potentially dangerous security risk • because someone
could make an MPD containing, say:

0 FILE /windows/win.ini
0 ha ha ha ha

and guess what that would do to someone's system if the • splitter didn't
check the input carefully!

Wow!  You have pointed out something very serious.  Should • there be things
in the MPD splitters to catch something like that and not allow • it to write
to c:\ or c:\windows?

Wow, that would be nasty. :)
